I don’t understand the sore looser sentiment from some Latvian posters, you made it to the quarters for the first time in nine years you played maybe the best team on paper in the tournament and you played a hell of a game. Be happy and proud instead, you’ve deserved it.

Dumb? Absolutely.

No matter what the players say, they thought it was going to be a walk in the park.

Latvia played their best game of the tournament so well done. :)

this is actually not true, I think Latvia played better against Canada, maybe even against USA too (don't know, didn't see that game)

With this kind of team play we are like 2-3 good NHL players away from the semis
No you're not. Pure luck and some flopping in front of incompetent refs. got you close at the scoreboard. The penalties where 5 to 1, you still lost the shoots on goal. Puck-possession was like 98% to 2 . Hope you come back next year whit some less boring and destructive hockey that premiers the skills of the Latvian players and get rid of Hartley already.

I have no clue at all why, that line was never even close to the problem, actually on the contrary they were the one line able to sustain pressure in the Latvian zone. Now the Backlund line on the other hand(It’s unfair to say the Backlund line because Backlund actually had a half decent game).

Flopping? Where exactly? Care to cite any examples of flopping?

Puck possesion was 98% to 2%? Really? So we practically dodnt touch the puck for more than 30 seconds huh?

It obviously doesn’t have an impact on the end result, you don’t say it because it’s disrespectful.

They played a 100% they just didn’t get it going because they didn’t have a clue what they were facing, either because of poor coaching or because of poor scouting, but also because of a very good Latvian coaching staff and team play.

How is it disrespectful? Do you even know who the players are? Our team is so far superior the only way a game like this turns out this way is if our team underestimates the opponent and play below their capacity.

Grönborg is a smart coach and there was nothing wrong with the scouting. Grönborg even talked about the scouting during the post game interview. This bad game was completely on the players and they better shape up against the US.

You should go for a walk. You are in desperate need of some fresh air.

Just because he’s smart and talked about the scouting in the studio doesn’t mean it actually worked. If you look at the entire first period they had no idea how to handle the Latvian team defense, sure that might be the players not listening enough to the coach. It’s one thing to scout another team and tell your players what to do based on that, it’s another thing to actually get them to do it.

It’s disrespectful because you are facing a team that worked very hard to get to where they are just to be disregarded as easy. Whether or not it happens to be on a obscure internet forum. (Actually I saw the swedish media doing the same, IE taking the semi-final for granted)

compare the rosters, how was it possible that sweden was so bad? sweden has a team full of nhl stars and still latvia dominates the game. thats weird. must be motivation problem from swedens side.

We dominated the game? Thats your take-away from this game? Really?

Real life hockey isnt an EA NHL simulation, you should realise that.

yes latvia was the better team, imo.

so if sweden has a bad team how did we win all the games in the group? we dominated every single team.

Where did i say that Sweden was a bad team? You do realise that its not all black and white, right. Teams who are better on paper can play worse against teams who arent as good on paper. I mean this isnt rocket science. For how long have you been a hockey fan and not realised that?
