Those numbers actually aren't impressive at all, considering it is a Tier II team. Ryder is playing Swedish Tier II as well, here are his stats:

Ryder: 30 GP 26 G 18 A 44 P

I don't see why he chose to play there.

maybe the tier 2 team offered more $ then the SEL teams.

They have a very interesting system in the SEL.The two worst SEL teams have to compete against the top four Tier 2 teams.The two teams who finish the competition/tournament with the best records, get to play in the SEL the following yr,while the other four play Tier 2 hockey.

it's as if the 2 worst nhl teams had to fight off the four best ahl teams,to see which 2 teams got to play in the nhl.

It's similar in English Premier League soccer. The bottom two teams at the end of the season are relegated to the First Division, and the top two teams of the First Division come up to the big league.
