(Mongo Luongo is up!
--------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a 14 round snake draft consisting of 10 teams that will be selecting in order of there positions.

The objective for this 1st draft is to create together the best top 140 prospects in the world today. You will not be building your team now. That's for the 2nd draft that comes up right after this one.

The point in making the list is to make it easier for everyone to build the team that they want having all the top prospects infront of them for the 2nd draft. The list is there to influence everyone.

Some Rules:
- 8 hour time limit on your pick (time doesn't count between the hours of 12am to 6am EST)
- PM the person after you
- If you miss a pick, you make it up as soon as possible

If you have any questions, ask below and I'll answer them as best as possible. Thanks!

Hey can you just refresh my memory...what year does the player have to born in? 2008 draft picks are included right? prospect has to have played 60 or less games?

Can I announce the first pick now, or at least PM it to someone? I can't be at a computer until tomorrow evening.

You can draft players born in 1989 and older.......and 65 games or less played in the NHL. That means you can choose anyone upcoming in the 2007 draft and ones that are 1989 born in the 2008 draft.

hans, yeah you can pick now if you want. Guess there is no sense in waiting. Let's just get this thing underway. :)

I don't know what the appropriate format for posting picks is, since we're not drafting these players to our team. So I guess...

1st: Erik Johnson (Defenseman, St. Louis)

How much time are we giving in this draft and the second one for making selections....something reasonable for us working folk.

Oh, I'd say 8 hour limit seems good. Not counting between 12am and 6am as most people sleep around that time frame. :)

I selected Jonathan Toews.

luongogoalie1 is now up!

Is this process really necessary? We know all the prospects and such - lets just do the draft. It just seems that this method is somewhat unneccessary and looks as though it will be VERY drawn out given the current pace.

Believe me it makes for a better draft. With a list infront of you, and knowing how others think, makes the 2nd draft much better and overall you feel better about your team when finished. Plus the 2nd draft goes by much quicker as you don't have to think as much as who to pick next, especially in the middle of the draft. Worked out the 1st time it was done, so just going to leave it. The 1st draft does take some time, but it ends up being worth it.
