Taresinko not the Russian machine Ovie is. Hurt his shoulder on a check
If you ignore the birth right angle for Holtby and you simply examine the resume and weigh the players equally, it's Grubauer and it's not even close.
Lest we forget that Grubauer's stats should actually be better than what they are because early in the season the team would routinely **** the bed every time he was in net. He has shown zero shakiness all season, he's your man and you go with confidence that you're #2 is also amazing.
I took a peak at the Debs board recently. At the end they were just rooting to stop Ovi getting #50.
One Deb said they don't care if Pitt gets 5 SCs... as long as they beat us in 2nd round. Is that sad or funny? Yeah, super salty.
But hey they'll be facing the Atlantic champ. Good luck
Some pros and cons regarding Philly vs. CBJ.
Not me mainly because Columbus matches well with the Caps. Additionally, I don't want to hear Torts whining in the media etc. I live close to Columbus so there will be a lot of coverage. Add to the fact Columbus is young, has a Vezina goalie, and trying to win a playoff round. It's a whole new season now and it's time to see who steps up for the Caps. Of the first round series, the Caps/Jackets series is right there with whoever the Leafs play, imo. If Boston plays the NJD, they need to bring back Shoenfeld, lol. Start Grubs.
Everyone hand wringing over who we play or match up against, that ain't how this works. To quote the great philosopher Richard Fliehr, to be the man you've got to beat the man. We'll take anyone...
Columbus, easily. They have the worst centers of any possible opponent and they play a game the Caps typically play well against. Philly and Pittsburgh give the Caps fits because they're excellent counterattacking teams who can dominate the neutral zone.
remember, jackets have to win, an ot loss does nothing
Lol, those were the days. Those wrestling events were pretty fun to attend as a kid, even as a college student. As for the teams, yep let them play. Imo, there is nothing more exciting in professional sports than the first round of the NHL Playoffs.
Bobrovsky has been bad in the playoffs. I'd start Holtby if we face them, he's been pretty good against them.
have you seen Holtby these last 2 1/2 months? Why on earth would you start him?
Good track record against CBJ even this season. 14 wins, 4 losses, .914 SV% and 2.62 GAA against them. Grubauer has similar stats against CBJ but has never won a game against them in 2 attempts.
I'm ok with playing Grubauer but I trust Holtby against CBJ. I'm fine with either.
He has played better his last few starts. I'd go with Holtby too but on a short leash.
I have been watching this game for a long time, since 1980, I have never been more entertained by a player than Ovechkin. Good, bad, and in between, he is my favorite player of all time and this season sealed it for me.
I am so lucky to have gotten to watch this man's career.
His play in the last couples of months is far more relevant, and those stats aren't even that good, that's below his Career save %.
Yea lets let Holtby choke away another playoffs rather than start a different goalie, the last 5 wasn't enough
Close but no cigar on 50. 49 in this day and age is very impressive though. Five more than anyone else, as well.
His 7th Rocket Richard Trophy, though. Simply amazing.
Came out of the game healthy, though, and really that’s all that matters. On to the playoffs.
CBus is a tough opponent but the Caps match up well against them. It won’t be easy but the Caps should win.
Let Philly and the Pens beat the crap out of each other.
No kidding and the fact he plays for the Caps makes it even better. It's amazing how the time flies because it just seems like yesterday he was a rookie. I have to say he is my favorite all time also. I used to watch guys like Hawerchuk, Kurri, etc and couldn't wait for the Caps to get a premiere franchise player. Not only can he score goals, but he loves to hit and a good person.
I think after that game we can be comfortable that Ovechkin isn't going into the playoffs injured at all.
Ovi is our god!
The Caps media people always do such a good job with this type of stuff:
That kid at 2:08 is the best thing ever by the way.
