I present to you, our speed lineup. Sub Oshie in for Connolly and Connolly in for DSP/Chiasson and I think this is the lineup most people would want.

I want to play against the Devils in postseason, but I won't lose this game* (to play them we would need to lose, because I can't see flyers to lose against NYR).
*Because if the Caps lose and play the devils, until wednesday/thursday we will hear the other fanbases talk about how the Devs will beat the Caps because they done it few days ago.

It's pretty nutty. The first domino will fall today at 3pm when Philadelphia plays the Rangers so long as Philadelphia secures 1 point (thereby eliminating Florida). New Jersey and Columbus are tied in points and in ROW but Columbus has more wins so they're currently ahead of New Jersey. We'll know more about who we could play and what a win or loss would mean once the Flyers/Rangers game is over.

Or avoid the Pens more....... I have no idea, they definitely don't care if they win.

Yeah, I think it's a bit about avoiding the Pens for some reason but more about rest. IF the Flyers get two pts + NJD/CBJ get zero then it'll be CBJ in the first round. That's my guess unless NSH rests a bunch tonight vs. CBJ.

They need to rest their first, second and third string goaltenders to be safe, as well. :naughty:

So looking more and more like CBJ unless NYR can beat Philly. I'm sure that team is motivated to put their post-season hopes in jeopardy at least.

With those players out. It's seems more like they want to drop to wc2

They will be wc2 if phi wins their game.

Why do you say this? I'm not sure anyone is trying to lose so they can face the Caps. You do realize that could backfire. Anyone of those 3 teams can still finish as the 2nd wildcard and could face the Atlantic division champ instead.

When teams are trying to lose with playoff slots on the line tells me the modern day 3 point game scoring system is a failure.

Here's my post from mains Metro Last Day thread w/added break down.

This gives you a view of how close the battle for playoff position is among three Metro teams.
Caps are locked to face WC1. Going into the (essentially) last day of reg season their probable opponents are:

Philly 34.4%, CBJ 33.5%, NJD 32.1%. You don't see that too often - nearly an equal 1/3 across the 3 teams.

Breaking it down further (from sportsclubstats sims)
Caps pts.....Round 1 opponent probabilities (pct)
    finish........CBJ NJD PHI
    105 W........ 37......33.....30
    104 OTL... 27......33......41
    103 L.......... 29......31.......41

From above it appears the outcome of our game vs NJ won't change the odds of facing NJ much at all, but it will alter the odds of facing the other two !
The above sims take into account all of the possible combinations of scenarios. All three possible r1 opponents have 39 ROWs. Seems it's their games outcomes (NYR @PHI, CBJ @NSH) will determine who Caps face more than what happens vs NJ?! Not very intuitive but there it is.
