Ottawa will trade Bonk, White, Leschyshyn, Lalime, (maybe Prusek or Schaefer too), any 3 bodies from Bingo except Emery and Platil, any 2 prospects below our 7th prospect, both our #3 picks in 2004 and our #1 in 2005.

To Washington for Kolzig and Ovechkin.
-Sens get their goalie and LW.

OR to Pittsburg for Malkin, Malone and Talbot.
- Sens get another playmaking centre, a big RW / LW and a hard working forward.

OR to Chicago for Barker or Ladd, Brian Sutter and Mark Bell.
- Sens get a future top four defencemen or future power LW forward, a coach and a big LW.

We can dream can't we.

Pittsburgh has an H at the end of it. Yes, it's silent. Also, this is the prospects forum.

Talk about terrible man, why do you even bother posting such proposals when you know your just gonna get flammed for it.

Other then the first in 05 and Lalime, its all crap and goes totally against what the Caps, Pens and Hawks are doing - rebuilding.

I don't get it. It doesn't make sense for anyone, not even Ottawa. Trade like 15 assets for one to three? No one is going to do it... quantity for quality doesn't work.

Yah! What all those guys said!
Although many in Chicago would certainly like to let you have B. Sutter for a 9th & a puck bag. OK, keep the 9th!

That's why it was titled preposterous.
1. It's on the prospect board because it is a trade that would probably take place at the draft.
2. Lots of people on these boards have suggested that Ottawa should get rid of most of these players and we need to replace them with players that can play right now and fill Ottawa's needs now.
3. Second and third round picks are usually projects and don't make it to the NHL and not only does Ottawa still have lots of players to fill spots in Bingo but next year there will be quite a few more coming out of college and from Europe if they come over.
4. The team we trade with could turn around and trade any of these players who do want or need them for draft picks, to move up in the draft or even trade for other players already on a team.
5. What is Ottawa going to do with Bonk, Lalime, White, Leschyshyn? These guys are probably gone. Prusek will either be the starter (maybe) or backup but if we get a goalie and they still want Emery in the NHL than Prusek becomes available.
6. If we get a LW or centre than Schaefer, Bondra, Smolinski or Vermette may be gone. There isn't enough room on the roster for everyone and this team has proven again they can't go all the way with the players they have.
7. The point was to fill at least two roster spots right now with players that can contribute and fill a need. With Wash we got a goalie and possibly a franchise LW player - Quebec traded Lindros and eventually won the Stanley cup as Colorado.
8. Chicago has mentioned that they are open for anything and may trade down. Obviously, if Washington or Pittsburgh don't want to deal but Chicago does the price will be reduced, meaning not as many players going the other way. At #3 Barker or Ladd would still be very attractive for players we don't want anyway.
9. Florida has a few players that would be interesting including Anthony Steward and Jokinen, Mezei or Josh OLson or Eric Beaudoin that Ottawa could covet.
10. Finally, ... Lighten up ... this is all for fun right, a way to past the time, I'm just fooling around that's all. Have a nice day.

Actually, Chicago has mentioned that they will only trade up (per Pully). And while trying to get Wash or Pitt to bite on this offer, (which they won't) the #3 is the start of the draft. The real 1st position where there's ANY chance of a trade down. So the idea of trying to cutrate an offer won't make it either. You're willing to give us a career underachiever, a guy we already had once, your #6-7 D-man, a goalie that would be a backup most places, a goalie prospect (got plenty, Thanks), some minor leaguers & more draft choices (we have 15 this year). Why didn't I think of that???
You're right, that's why it's called Preposterous.

People always want something for nothing

I cant speak for either Chicago or Pitt but as a caps fan I think I have some handle on why this trade blows

Its not that far off to see Kolzig traded to the Sens, came pretty damn close at the trade deadline...probably one of the major things is that Kolzig makes 6.5 million a year and in all honesty, Lalime has been just as good as Kolzig during the past two seasons

As for Ovechkin, the Sens would have to part with either Volchenkov(sp?) or Phillips for starters...Leschyshyn would be short term fix but at 2 million dollars, the Caps could get more for that type of money, especially with the number of free agents that will be on the market after the CBA...with the Caps in a rebuilding mode, it would make a helluva alot more sense to build your franchise around a guy like AO

Seems like you're going off a player's name recognition rather then how skilled the actually are...time to wake up from your dream and check in with reality

Wow if u can have their players for the guys you mentionned, the habs can have Ovechkin for Witt and Ovechkin for the Breezer and Perreault or maybee you can give Langdon. Langdon is a very good player a future power forward he can score a goal in the playoff. He is perfect for the caps. well as you see i'm just kidding :)
