My friend keeps harassing me to get this game. It looks so bad by the videos that I'm watching, what am I missing here?

If it doesn't look fun by the videos you've seen, you probably won't like it. That's the game in a nutshell. 100 people drop in to the same map every time and you scavenge your guns, armor, utilities, ammo etc. Each time you kill a person you can look through their stuff and grab what you want/need and move on. The play area gets progressively smaller until you're forced into a tiny area and all the remaining people throw down.

I'm with Seb in that this is the most fun I've had with a game in a long time. My friends and I just enjoy the hell out of it, and I absolutely suck. I'm usually the type of gamer that gets frustrated if I'm bad at the game, but honestly this game just makes me want to get better and better because it's so fun.

Again, if the videos and my description don't sound fun, I wouldn't get it. It's just not the game for you. There isn't any story, no real progression or unlocks, and only one map. But it's a hell of a lot of fun with friends.

Yeah, try to watch the end of a match as well, just in case you have only seen random gameplay. They're right - the adrenaline rush is crazy when you get down to the end.

Agree with others and that this is the most fun I have had gaming in some time. I haven't even really played an FPS since I used to rock CS:Source back in the day but this game hits all the right buttons for me.

Was so close to my first duo chicken dinner last night. Was playing with a friend who was fairly new to the game so didn't like our chances. Final few zones were on the the north east coast of the military base island beside the bridge. I had gotten a few kills earlier but didn't feel like we would win - until a crate dropped directly behind us in a depression with an AWM and an 8x scope. Was totally safe to loot too with hills guarding the one side of us and the water the other side. It seemed like the PUBG gods wanted to gift us the win.

So anyways I found a good rock for cover, told my buddy to watch my back, and began dropping people with the AWM. I think I was up to 8 kills when I got killed by someone who hoped in the water and parkour'ed up the cliffside. However, my buddy manages to not be completely useless and kills him and after picks me up. (although it was still close as he fell off the cliff before saving me, so I had to crawl off the ledge and parkour back up after getting revived).

So we were down to 2 enemy's and I AWM one guy in the head and spot the tree the other one was hiding behind. I figure we got this in the bag when all of the sudden my otherwise timid friend decides to go Leroy and gets killed trying to finish the other guy off :facepalm:. The zone wasn't kind and forced me to approach him, without a good close quarters weapon, and I lost the final battle.

I still could have killed the last guy but if I was playing with my usual squad mate I am fairly certain we would have easily won :cry:. PUBG giveth and PUBG taketh away...

I had by far my most fun game last night playing with three friends.

Had a sick firefight on the tops of the apartments in Yasnaya. Take out a partial squad there. Head south. Get fired on as we're running. Run over a hill to get cover and run face to face with another squad. Wipe them out. Turn and wipe out the squad that was chasing us.

We hunkered down there since there was an absolute war going on at a little farm that was just south of us in the circle. Like I'm talking hundreds of shots were going off. Just constant gunfire for about 5 minutes haha.

As the circle closes in, we move in. Two of us get popped by a guy hiding in a little hollow, so it's up to our one friend to win it. He runs to the circle and just lays down on a little slope behind a tree. He's sitting there for a minute or two and then sees the surviving squad from that little farm run up on him, but they don't see him. Out of nowhere another squad starts firing over him at the squad approaching. One of the squads got wiped out, so my buddy pops up, takes out his Micro Uzi and manages to down two of them, but ended up dying to the third.

Ended up finishing 2nd.

Way too fun.

Had a pretty funny moment recently. We were a squad of 3 people and it was the very beginning of the game. We see a guy running by himself in the woods so we try to run him over, but he dodges it. So for some reason we all three jump out to try to punch this guy to death and he leads us in a circle, takes a couple of punches, and then gets in our vehicle that we just jumped out of. Before he can take off one of my teammates jumps in the vehicle with him :laugh: This guy takes off and rolls with our teammate for like a good 2 or 3 minutes, then he pulls up and gets out, so my teammate gets out(we were all dead at this point, so we were spectating our last remaining teammate) and they start swinging at each other only to get mowed down by another squad of guys. I think the funniest part is thinking what that other squad was thinking when they hear a vehicle pull up, two guys hop out and start swinging at each other :laugh: So stupid but so funny.

My buddy and I decided to duo-queue in squads (without getting two other teammates) and we got 2nd and 1st in 5 games. I kind of feel like it's easier than duos, the skill level seemed...lower.

I may have to pick this game up. After watching some video's and reading this I am sold.

Anyone need a player for duos or squads? I've got 1 win in duos and 7 in squads before the reset. I finish top-10 most of the time. I prefer smart play to crazy, but I'll do both. I just love this game and I'm not a huge fan of solo play, despite finishing in the top-10 most games.

I know that they have a behind the scenes match-matching system that tries to group people based on skill. There is a chance it is separate between the different game modes so you might see the skill jump up

Got three more chicken dinners today. One as a duo, one as a trio, one as a squad of four. Best advice I can give is pick your battles wisely, and hide your way to victory.

Does seem to be an easier way to victory even if it isn't more fun. In squads last night the plane came in from the south and we dropped alone in Severny. The circle closed in almost on top of us and we didn't get any kills until there was 15 or so left. Wasn't as fun as running and gunning but it got us the chicken dinner

Yeah I don't mind it being "boring" because for me the adrenaline rush once you get in the top 5 is better than getting 5 kills and dying outside the top 20. But I can absolutely understand why people would want to just rack up kills.

I agree the adrenaline for that final 20 is super high and is my favorite part of the game.

Yeah I love the adrenaline rush at the end, but nothing in the game for me tops dropping in on the school or military base and just gong to town immediately :laugh: Gun shots everywhere, people sneaking up on you. It's basically a race to see who can get a decent gun first and mow everyone else down. I love it. And if you do survive that ****show, you're geared up pretty well for the rest of the game and don't need to do a ton of looting.

Then proceeded to blow an easy win where we lost a 4v1.

Got the first win last night in duos. Last kill we surrounded this guy who was hiding in a shack and he tried to throw a grenade out, it hit the door frame came back in and hurt him and my teammate only had to put like 1 bullet in him :laugh: We were both so pumped!

Server performance has improved a lot over the course of the past few weekly patches. We will continue to work on improving server and client performance over the coming weeks and months.

We have also been working hard to tackle down cheating players. This is an ongoing battle, but one we are committed to fighting! We have banned 25,000+ users in the last 3 months, and work daily with BattlEye to add new protections and detections for cheats appearing on the market.

We are currently monitoring gameplay very carefully, and our data science team is spending much of their time preparing reports on how you play the game. We plan to make continuing changes to improve play area size & speed, loot balance, and gunplay properties in order to provide an exciting and fair gaming experience to everyone.

In case you missed it yesterday, we are also adjusting the loot balance this month.

This is our first real pass at adjusting the loot balance in the game after the data science team started their analysis. We will most likely be making several more of these passes during Early Access, so please don't take this week's upcoming change to the balance as final!

Due to a bug, we’ve been experiencing an issue where some items either spawned more or less than intended. This was discovered in the process of modifying the spawn table internal structure for developing custom games, and after following and testing the issue, we discovered that a similar issue was present throughout all spawn tables.

Not all items had issues, but we decided it was necessary to adjust some of the items that were spawned too much or too little for their tiers.

Even though it’s not bug-related, we also hope to improve the item looting experience for items that we’ve received a lot of user feedback on. Such improvements and adjustments will be made on a regular basis based on various data analysis and feedback.

Now onto what we have changed and fixed in this, our third monthly update.

This patch will be deployed to the Test Servers on Wednesday, June 28, and if everything is stable, to the Live Servers on Thursday.

Early Access - Month 3 - Patch Notes

Server Performance
- Improved network performance by reducing the amount of data being sent from the server to the client.
- Reduced network lag by preventing a large amount of data being sent from the server to the client simultaneously.

Client Performance
- Fixed an issue of frame drop when other characters were around by optimizing nearby characters.
- Fixed an issue of frame drop when vehicles were around by optimizing vehicles.
- Optimized the starting airplane and Care Package airplanes.
- Improved rendering performance of weapons from far-off.
- Made improvements to the weapon animations.
- Optimized many in-game effects, including the red zone bombing effect.
- Improved many UI features.
- Improved features regarding rainy weather.

New Items
- Added Groza. Groza is an AR chambered for 7.62mm ammo, and can only be acquired in Care Packages.
- Added P18C. P18C is a pistol chambered for 9mm ammo with a full auto fire-mode.

Gameplay
- Vector and UMP now support burst mode.
- You can now pick up items while moving. The interaction animation will not force you to stop anymore, but make you walk slowly.
- You may interact with doors, items, or vehicles while reloading. Reloads will be canceled with such interactions.
- The screen will be gradually desaturated based on remaining health during the REVIVE state.
- Blood effect does not appear during the REVIVE state anymore.
- Adjusted kill count system in Duo and Squad modes. A person knocking an opponent out will receive a kill count regardless of the actual killer.
- Adjusted F key (interaction) to prioritize the REVIVE action in certain cases
- You can now pull out pistols faster.
- Fire mode can no longer be switched during reload.
- Adjusted the play area to spawn more evenly within a circle, so that the play area does not appear in the center so frequently.
- Adjusted default quantity to be selected at 1 when pressing CTRL key at inventory to partially drop or pick up items.
- Adjusted motorcycle and motorcycle with sidecar to move more smoothly.
- You can no longer switch to/from prone while picking up items.
- Red Dot Sight is now attachable to pistols, except for the revolver.
- Increased the recoil on UMP.

World
- Added two new weather settings: Sunset and Clear Skies.
- Added destructible cabins.
- Added new animation for when a character is at the speed of taking fall damage.

Items & Vehicles
- Adjusted vehicles to face random directions at spawn.
- Adjusted loot balance for certain items.
- VSS will no longer be found in Care Packages. It will remain to be spawned in the map.
- At a low probability, you will be able to acquire AR Silencers, SR Silencers, and 4x Scopes in Care Packages.
- Spawn rate of UMP was slightly decreased.
- Spawn rate of UZI was slightly increased.
- Level 1 Helmet was being spawned at a much higher rate than the Level 1 Vest, and the spawn rate was adjusted so that both items will be spawned at a similar rate.
- Increased spawn rate of items in regions and buildings with relatively low spawn rate.
- Changed the names of certain weapon attachments.
- Adjusted the spawn time of vehicles and speedboats, so that they can be seen from farther away.
- Improved the starting airplanes.
- Cargo door opens when participants get ejected from the airplane.
- Optimized lighting inside and outside of the airplane.

UI
- Adjusted the direction of teammate icons to the direction the teammate faces.
- Added teammate list on World Map.
- Improved character’s recoil animation.
- Removed death marks of teammates after a certain period of time or distance away from the place of death.
- Added three new languages: Thai, Indonesian, and Vietnamese.

Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue when the voice chat volume blasted momentarily after getting on an airplane.
- Fixed an issue where the character was not at the center of the screen while on a parachute.
- If you reload into game while in a parachute, you will still be in the parachute.
- Prevented users from removing outer walls of buildings by deleting certain files.
- Partially fixed a bug that caused a character to be stuck in terrain.
- Fixed a bug that caused a character to be misplaced after getting in a vehicle.
- Fixed a bug that caused effects to look identical underwater and outside of water.
- Fixed a bug that caused a character to make an interaction motion trying to pick up an item when there is no inventory space.
- Fixed a client crash that occurred when fences were destroyed.
- Fixed an issue of invisible fences even after destruction.

Waiting on a deal for this one.

I don't think they are going to do that unless they notice sales dipping. In fact, they are still trending upwards.

I think something like in the first 2 months they sold 2 million copies and in in the last month they plopped over 4 million copies sold.
