Approval from the NHLPA is expected to be automatic.
TORONTO (CP) - Citing higher than expected revenue forecasts for this season, the NHL and the NHL Players' Association have discussed cutting players' escrow payments to four per cent from each paycheque instead of the current 12 per cent.
The change would kick in early in January if approved by the players. Technically, the league could have opted for the status quo and only figured out the final escrow figures at season's end, as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
Approval from the NHLPA is expected to be automatic.
