It's more common for a tall player to get away with adding inches, because the taller you are the less % is being added per inch

It isn't the players who add it. It is the teams - and while it might be easier to add to a tall player it is also redundant.

The Mandela (Bernier) effect must be real, I SWEAR I remember him being this massive lumbering guy who had problems skating, like 6'4+ easily, probably around 6'5/6'6, I found out he was 6'2 the other year and was tripped out.

This is actually the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the post. I could have sworn he was 6'5".

Kadri is listed at 6ft.

I'm 5'11, i've met him for like 2 minutes at a mall, he is at most 5'9

But i feel like the NHL does that with almost all their players

Monahan also used to live about 5 minutes away from me and went to the same gym, he's listed as 6'3, i would say he's closer to 6. Unless of course he had a late growth spurt in the last 2-3 years

So with players/ teams adding at least an inch to almost every player, would that mean that the average height of all NHL players is inaccurate?
According to google, the average NHL player is 6'1". If that is using NHL.com's heights then it is inaccurate.

Horvat is listed at 6'0 225lbs but he looks like he's 5'9 or 5'10.

Also Matthew Tkachuk is listed at 6'2 but he looks more like he's 6'0.

It can be both parts, I have a lot of male friends who add an inch or two to their height

Do you think they just ask the players their height and weight? They are measured. The teams publish whatever numbers they like but they know the actual numbers.

They're at the edge of the road. Malkin is standing on the curb.
No they’re not...

My bad, I'm used to boxing and MMA where it's sort of self-reported and that's why you see two fighters like Tyson Fury and Vladimir Klitschko looking exactly equal in height but on paper there's a 3 inch gap

I met Monahan's cousin in Brampton and he says Monahan is a bit taller than me and I'm 5'11 so yeah.

Hmm, weird, I saw Kadri at the Eaton Centre about 2 years ago.

I'm a bit over 6'1" and he was roughly my height.

I’m pretty sure Marner is listed at 6’0

I don’t think he is even that tall on his skates. 5’8 probably more realistic

The inch doesn't, but body composition does. Muscle is more dense than fat, and I'd bet my next paycheck that Subban has more muscle in the similar body size. THAT can easily make up 35lbs.
I know about that, but I work in a gym and been working out for more than 5 years, I am at 185lbs with 13% body fat. When I see his interviews, he is about the same size ad me. There is no way he is 35 lbs heavier. Hockey players do have huge legs tho.

Alex Pietrangelo does not look 6'3" to me when he's on the ice. Maybe that's because he's either playing with Joel Edmundson (6'4") or Parayko (gigantic) comes on the ice after him.

malkin being booked at under 200 while being 6’3 surprises me

kinda just looks like a stocky player whos a complete beast on the ice but thats a relatively lanky height/weight for a hockey player

It wasn't that long ago people were pointing out Malkin's chicken legs. It was one of those classic threads, about comparing old and new players.
