Just for fun:

Lemiuex - Malkin - Jagr
Stevens - Crosby - Tocchet
Kessel - Francis - Recchi
Hörnqvist - J.Staal - Sandström

Coffey - Murhpy
Letang - Samuelsson
Conchar - Orpik

Barasso
Fleury

(All in their prime)

How would this team do in todays NHL?

"How can you have him with ..." and "Why do you not pick ..." I look forward to a scary aha experience of having missed the big names that should have been included.

Feel free to make your own all-time team....

Need to Fit Joe Mullen in there and if we are going by players in their prime then Luc Robitaile has to get a nod as well.

Would also loved to see Michel Briere so we can all see how we would have turned out.

Dave Burrows for Kris Letang. Tocchet for Kovalev. I think Mullen might beat out Straka as well, but I can live with it since Straka's best years were here while Mullen - as good as he was as Penguin - his best years were in St. Louis and Calgary. Straka was here longer as well.

when people do these, I always assume In their Prime means the best they played on that particular team. Then again, that still might be Vokoun over Fleury.

If everyone is in their prime, there is no way on God's green Earth that Trottier wouldn't be ahead of Straka

I think they meant if the player played for the Pens while in their prime. Trots was near the end with the Pens so he doesn't count.

You must be very young. No way in hell does Mario take a back seat to Crosby. Mario is the first line Center. Crosby would be his wing.

The line would work better with sid centering him. Makes no sense to have mario at centre just because he's better

So you would take a hands down better Center and make him a wing to an inferior one? Makes a ton of sense.

I'd take Pierre Larouche over Martin Straka and Denis Herron over MAF.

And, even though Sergei Zubov only played one season for the Pens, I'd find a spot for him among the d-men in place of Stackhouse. I'd rather have Dave Burrows (or maybe Ulfie) than Kris Letang as well.

I cant argue with your choices really. However, considering the importance of chemistry, I think that top six would look more like this.

Francis - Lemiuex - Jagr
Stevens - Crosby - Malkin

I'd either put Tocchet or Mullen in instead of Straka. Likely Tocchet.

Stevens Lemieux Jagr
Geno Sid Kovalev
Recchi Francis Tocchet
Kehoe Apps Pronovost

Coffey Murphy (dump)
Ulf Zubov
Gonchar Carlyle

You could replace the older guys with modern era fairly easily if you wanted ...

 It'd be a tough choice, but I'd use Francis in Adams' spot on the PK, and keep Adams in the press box to be the first in in case of any injury.

Also laughing at the suggestion of Mario playing on Sid's wing. I love 87, but . . .

I'd have Burrows over Stackhouse. Letang over Zubov. I wouldn't put Herron over MAF. It's hard to compare goalies from then and now though, other than the fact that in general, today's are far superior.
