I wonder if McKeown is worth a look at this point.

TvR on the 2nd pairing isn’t a killer in isolation, but when that’s in conjunction with his spot on the 3rd pairing being assumed by Dahlbeck, forced to play his off-side, it gets a bit ugly.

For the trade Faulk camp, keep that in mind. RHD is not an organizational strength.

Flames have 5 NHL ready RHD, 2 of which aren't on the roster because well they are overshadowed by the first 3. Canes have 4 great RHS forward prospects (Necas, Gauthier, Zykov, and Roy). Necas obviously isn't available unless it's an NHL ready center better overall than Staal (Especially offensively), so what would it take to get one of the other 3?

So you want the Canes to make a reactionary move because one of our defensemen is injured and may miss a few games?

Canes are deep defensively. Canes are weak offensively. Trading an offensive prospect to fill a VERY temporary void makes no sense.

Well even with Pesce in the lineup, Canes RHD depth isn't all that great. Their depth is their league best LHD depth.

We’ve got two top-pair-worthy RHDs in our top 4, a pretty good bottom pair RHD. I guess we could use a 4th guy or something, but that’s the sort of thing you address with good AHL depth not trades.

What? With Pesce in the line-up, they have Faulk (25), Pesce (22), and TVR (26) at the NHL level and they have McKeown and Luke Martin in the system. On top of that, Slavin has shown he can play the RHD side very effectively. While their RHD depth isn't as good as their LHD, it is still pretty damn good given everyone on their NHL roster is 26 and under. The VERY last thing the Canes should be doing is trading young, scoring, forward prospects for more defensive depth.
