The Edmonton Oilers look to end their 1 game losing streak against a team that seems to get embarrassed more than normal. Just like the Washington game where they got demolished against the identity-less Canucks and beat the Oilers the game after, will the Pens show that same backbone the Caps did after an embarrassing loss? Or will we see dat same fire, dat passion and dat determination against the Oilers that the Pens showed against the Jets?

Will the Oilers stink the bed? Or will they put on a show for us and win in a dominating fashion?

On Nov 1, 2017 @ 6:38pm MT in the illustrious, magnificent and exotic Rogers Place we will find out.

Game 7 Dodgers vs Astros or watch an under performing Oilers team tonight? Easy decision.

Oilers lose 3-1. McDavid with 1

Coach a basketball team and have tryouts tonight so won't be able to watch any of this game.

So I am fully expecting our best game of the year as I wont be able to enjoy it.

5-2 Oilers

McDavid x3
Klefbom
Strome

Little tired of facing good teams after they come off embarrassing losses.

Last year we seemed to stem that situational energy and pull off good efforts regardless of previous outcomes.

This year, I don't see the mettle being there. Spinning our wheels trying to find any sort of traction.

Maybe a point. OT loss 3-2.

Pens have won every game this year after they have allowed 5+ goals the previous ones.

I don't know the score but I predict an Oilers loss. A losers point isn't out of the realm of possibility though.

I had been generally positive and even in a decent mood before Saturday, but man did the Oilers lay an egg at the worst possible moment against the Caps.

Little confidence that they can win today.

We need a very special November to get back on track here, if it's going to happen.
Rest of our division is minimum 5 points ahead, first place is 12 points ahead (ARI doesn't count).

Any more than 2 or 3 regulation losses might be too big a hole.

Based on winning percentage against each division last year.

3 games against the Central (0.61%) 2 wins
2 game against the Pacific (0.68%) 1 win
6 games against the Metro (0.375%) 2 wins
5 games against the Atlantic (0.50%)3 wins

I decided to be optimistic and rounded up. So we optimistically last year would of gone 8 and 8. Which would bring our record to 11-14-1 so even the team last year would of only brought us 3 games under 0.500

McDaddy plays a monster game, scores 2 and adds a helper. Phil Kessel eats a hot dog and gets a hat trick. 5-3 Pens.

I like math (no sarcasm).
Let's keep going.

So at that stage, 26 games over and we'd be at 32% of the season complete with 23 points in the standings (11-14-1 record).
Prorated that yields a 73 point season over 82 games which I refuse to believe, but let's say that's what's happening.

In order to make the playoffs, if we use Nashville' 8th place 2016-17 wild card finish, we need 94 points (41-29-12 record).
To be on pace for a 94 point season by the end of November, the 26 game mark, we need to aim to have 30 points (14-10-2 record).

So in order to alleviate concerns or at least be in the fight still by end of November we must turn 3-6-1 into 14-10-2.
These next 16 games we as a team should aim for a record, give or take, of 11-4-1 that means.

Now the hot streak/cold streak stretches inevitable throughout the season nuke most of this math.
But winning 9 or 10 in November to try and buck those winning percentage trends by division would go a long way to staying in the fight.

Remember, remember
The end of November
Come off a win streak so hot
I know of no reason
The opening month of the season
Should not then be forgot

Oilers nation will go bat shit crazy if they lose this game.

Past seasons a loss here was probably expected but with the expectations this season that were placed on this team, warranted or not, it will get ugly media wise.

Calgary got off to a slow start like this last year and had to win 10+ games in a row to sneak into the playoffs. They have to stop digging the hole.
