Penguins scouting staff grades

There's been alot made of the Penguins poor draft record in recent years,, alot of which was blamed on Shero. His record was poor, but GMJR is largely working with the same staff, many of whom have been with the team since 2006.

Does anyone know which Penguins scouts scout where/what leagues? Talking about amateur scouting here.

First, it is worth noting when the respective scouts were hired. Colin Alexander, for example, was only hired this offseason (post-draft), so has had any impact yet.

With that said, here are the ones I can tell:


Colin Alexander Amateur Scout: Hired this past summer, don't know where he is.
Scott Bell Amateur Scout: Hired in 2012, lives in (and presumably scouts) Minnesota
Luc Gauthier Amateur Scout: Hired in 2008, lives in/scouts Quebec
Jay Heinbuck Amateur Scout: Was Director of Amateur Scouting from his hire by Shero in 2006 until sometime in the past year. Not sure where he lives/scouts.
Wayne Meier Amateur Scout: Hired 2006, lives in Edmonton and primarily scouts the WHL.
Ron Pyette Amateur Scout: Hired in 2009, primarily scouts Western Canada, Washington and Oregon (WHL, but also Junior A leagues, such as the one Bennett came from).
Warren Young Amateur Scout: Hired in 2013, lives in Pittsburgh.
Chris DePiero Amateur Scout: Hired in 2012, lives in Toronto.
Brian Fitzgerald Amateur Scout: Hired in 2007, lives in Michigan.
Frank Golden Amateur Scout: Hired in 2014. Don't have info on where he lives/scouts.
Patrik Allvin Head European Scout: Hired 2006
Tommy Westlund European Scout: Hired in 2011, lives in Sweden.
Gilles Meloche Special Assignment Scout: Became a scout for the team in 2013. Presumably scouts goaltenders, given his former role as goaltending coach.

Euro scouts get an incomplete due to Shero never freaking drafting European players.

Euro scouts get an incomplete due to Shero never freaking drafting European players.

Yeah, Allvin was a Euro scout with the Habs when they drafted a number of solid Euro's in the later rounds, but not much to show since coming to PIT.
