Gluck Pacman, The last of our good penalty killers out. Now we can finally throw out Caggiula, Benning Lucic to kill penalties. #onthewayup

Another one bites the dust, hope he enjoyed his time as an Oiler.

In regards to replacing him, there is no need to worry. A 94er will rise and fill this massive void.

I don't think he got too much of a chance, especially once we were out of the playoffs and looking to assess the future. I always thought he had a great shot on a team that needed them.

Good luck to him in the KHL, probably best to get out of this situation because it doesn't look too promising with the management/coaching idiots were stuck with.

Really liked Pakarinen, thought he was someone who could eat 4th line minutes and play special teams regularly. Need more of him not less but that seems to be the Oilers way.

Never really believed in Pak as an NHLer. But he did grow on me with his shot and sometimes using his size. Either way, not a huge loss. Probably better for him in KHL, just doesn't bring enough to be an NHL regular.

He’s a hard worker who was good on the PK, but only mediocre at ES. When we had a better 2nd/3rd line, he was fine, but the writing was on the wall last year. We needed an upgrade on him. I wish him all the best

Probably 50-100 players just as good or better not playing in the NHL wont miss him at all

He'll probably do pretty well over in the KHL where he'll have some more time to use his shot. Couldn't get it off here.

Four-year Oiler Iiro Pakarinen reported heading for KHL

Not big news, considering I'm starting the thread but, losing Iiro kinda stings considering our depth for PK'ers. He's the kind of depth guy we should have tried to hang on to.

I sincerely wish him all the best in the KHL.

Damn!

I'm a big fan of a player and of course he's gone. I'm looking forward to the Slepychev announced departure next week. f***, this shit.

Consistent with my earlier comments on the piss poor KHL wouldn't surprise me if he knocks in 15 goals over there. Man, Klinkhammer had .500ppg production out there.

Well... it's piss poor in the sense that it's not the NHL.

It's still likely the 2nd best league in the world.

But yeah... 15 goals for sure. I think he'll push 20 tbh. He put up 9 in 18 games in the AHL this season. He reminds me of Lander or Hartikainen. Guys with a lot of the skills you need to succeed in the NHL. But they're just perpetually a step or two behind the play. Either in literal speed or in processing the play fast enough.

Klinkhammer is a good example too tbh. Look at his AHL numbers. He's a ppg guy down in the AHL but at the NHL he's lucky to crack 10 points in a season.

I liked Pakarinen but I don't think it'll be hard to replace him as he's the definition of a 13th forward (at best). Hope he does well over in Russia or wherever else he ends up.

I would hope Chiarelli will do much better this summer in upgrading the bottom 6 as well as the #13F spot.

I will say though that in the limited minutes he played last season and this season, I thought he did reasonably well in those minutes the coach gave him.

We were 31st in PK last year. The PK was so bad that it could easily have kept us out of the playoffs even if most other things had improved. No-one should cheer the departure of a PK specialist on a team like that.

heh, look out, based on his play this season he's been on my like list. But if you want I can temporarily rescind that till the offseason is over and resume like in the fall.;)

These are uncertain times we live in as Oilers fans. Just trying to do my part. hehe

Yeah please if you don't mind.. just till October ;)
