The Jackets look like they wanna be the next Capitals.

Only they can't seem to get out of the first round.

Watching these other games tonight, I am struck by how differently the refs are calling our series. Very few penalties are being called in the other games. While the refs have been calling our series unbelievably close. Like 2 penalties in the Bruins game maybe (despite lots of stuff going on) while we had maybe 13 or 14 minors called between both clubs last night and who knows how many the game before.

The refs have turned our series into a special teams fest. It’s influenced the series mightily. I don’t like it. It seems kind of arbitrary in comparison to what other teams have to deal with. I think it favors a skill and speed team like Tampa. Though I don’t think there’s been any conspiracy here. Just bad officiating. Put the whistles away in the playoffs. Let the players decide things, not the refs.

I don’t think our series has been so much more illegally played. It’s just been called that way.

Flyers pens has had a significant amount of penalties it seems like.

So Tom Wilson got 2 minutes for a hit I thought was fairly clean earlier but Kucherov gets off with nothing for his. I know Wilson has a history but that pisses me off. There have been quite a few notable hits in the 1st round that come to mind to such as Perry's, Doughtys, etc. Of all those hits I feel Kucherov may have the worst one and he faced no repercussion.

Backstrom might be a worse playoff choker than Nash. His game seems even more nonchalant and almost disinterested than it does in the regular season.

Bergeron who's probably Boston's most important skater did not look great in this series and missed tonight. I suspected he was playing injured before. Matthews who's definitely Toronto's most important player has been completely invisible this series. Even with Bergeron out he still couldn't capitalize.

Columbus looks like they might choke out Craps style in this series.

If they don't win this series then they'll have the reputation of nothing but perennial one and doners.

This is the "Oh shit we have to play Pittsburgh next" series.

After 3 straight overtime games, Washington had better legs tonight than Columbus, despite being the older team. (Panarin hitting the post in OT last night, Columbus was that close to a 3 zip lead).

Meanwhile Rask outplays Anderson in Toronto. Plus 2 big (Devils’ like) defensive mistakes on bad pinches by the Toronto defense lead to 2 odd man rushes, where Boston scores. Marchands goal a beautiful pass by Pasternak on a 2 on 1.

Toronto is in a quandary. Their rebuild went fast but they’ve plateau’d out. Their current personnel can’t make them better then a poor first round team. What will be stage 2 of their build, if there is one.

Toronto is going to be interesting when you consider Nylander is RFA this year and then they've got both Matthews (who is gonna get paid big time) and Marner to pay the next summer.

Ugh what a piece of crap Marchand is.

lol the only good thing about losing one more game is Marchand and the Lightning deserve each other at this point.

This has to go seven games now, doesn't it? Neither team knows how to win, one eventually will by default though.

The goon shit being let go in these playoffs is ridiculous.

Someone is going to get seriously hurt. Career threatening levels.

League either needs to step in, or let enforcers back into the game to do player safeties job.

It's come to a point where I seriously believe one player will get cheapshotted one time too many and then someone else goes nuts on that perpetrator and we have another Marty McSorley/Donald Brashear debacle again.

Exactly. This is a total joke and there just is no logical explanation for refereeing like that. Wilson even pulled is leg back and it was clean a hit as can be while Kucherov went for the head and should have been penalized and suspended.

As for Marchand, what can you say? Getting 5 games for almost ending a guys career is ridiculous. What he does to Marner can't be excused. Total scumbag.
