Tampa will lockdown on Hall. I don't think we can keep up with them with Hall under control. Zacha has to have the series of his life for us to win.
You may be right, but I can’t wait to see playoff Hall. He’s gonna play so damn hard they may not be able to shut him down.

Apologies if this was discussed ad nauseum, but was the general consensus here cool with resting the last game or should we have gunned for better position, home ice and maybe more favorable matchup?

Lock down on Hall?

The only way they'd keep Hall under control is if they put an actual LEASH around his neck and tied him to the bench.:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Hard to assume how the series plays out in this sense. I think it's fair to say it's going to be:

Hall's line against Point + Hedman.

Zajac's + Greene-Vatanen against Stamkos/Kucherov.

Zacha's line against Johnson's line.

How those match-ups and special teams play out is going to decide the series.

I'll watch regardless, but matchups are matchups. Pens and bruins were very beatable. Tampa has the d to break our forecheck. Plus, their scoring depth can grind us up.

Then how about this?

If the Devils win more than the 1 game you claim, will you come here and state that you were wrong about your prediction?

Or will you just pretend you never said anything and fade into the background lurking?

But can you swing it? Do I have to loan you a few bucks?
But is the wife gonna let you ride down to Tampa on your bike? Especially on a weekend night? Will you even be allowed to go?

Devils were competitive in games 1 and 3 against Tampa. Game 2 we were heavily outplayed but found a way.

This cannot be understated.

It doesn't matter if we're getting our asses kicked on the ice....so long as that asskicking doesn't extend to the Scoreboard, which it hadn't.

The final score is all that matters and the Devils have come away on top in the end....all 3 times.

If the wood-zacha-maroon line can stay hot that will be huge. I can see the coleman-zajac-Noesen line having a big impact too, especially Coleman.

As it turned out, Devils came out with the more favorable matchup.

I don't care what anyone says. They were NOT beating Boston.

A major determining factor will be our secondary scoring vs. theirs. A grim prognosis. With that said, Keith could steal a game. He has the ability to do so.

Imagine if the Devils did NOT beat Toronto in regulation....

YIKES!

It's fun to point that out now cause it's annoying the heck out of the Panther fans but obviously the games the last two days wouldn't have played out the same way. If the games meant anything for Florida, Luongo would be playing and who knows how he would have responded to playing 5 in 7? Obviously our game yesterday would have been a little different too though we still could well have lost with the Caps having a hard-on to get Ovechkin his numbers.

How were we thoroughly outplayed by them in any game other than the one in Tampa where Lack played? It was extremely even the first game, outside of Budaj giving us some pretty easy goals. Some of the softest we scored all season. It's not like they were the better team that night though, it was an even game. The last game a couple weeks ago? We played them pretty evenly until the 3rd period, where we had a 2-0 lead going into it. We may have even been the better team in the first 2 periods of that game. And we were playing the second half of a back to back that night while Tampa didn't even play the night before.
