It doesn’t help that we have one of the most unproductive PP dmen in the league being deployed by Eakins like he’s Brent Burns and are using MDZ to spell him when he needs a rest.

I especially love how doesn't use the one skill he excels at, and instead stops skating and coasts through the neutral zone with the puck while the other 4 Ducks stand dead still at the blue line. Because everyone knows the best PP zone entries are the ones where you dump and chase from 50 feet outside the blue line...

Our PK literally creates more chances than our PP.

Some of these guys need to sit at this point. Cam Fowler should be the first one to take a seat. He's had countless opportunities to move the needle forward on the PP and he can't get it done. It's time to send a message

Who do you replace him with? We have this discussion literally every year. He's not ideal, but the team doesn't have a better option.

Overall the PP looked better tonight in terms of puck and player movement. Lack of opportunities kind of hurt us tonight.

Mahura. Lindholm like fowler has major flaws on the PP but when healthy is still a better option.

yes the team does have a better option. Fowler has been eating up massive minutes on the PP all year. The PP is ranked last in the league.

time to try something else

I’m sure you were thinking this but if the Ducks had a 6 on 3 PP, they would fail to convert.

It’s a no brainer fix the PP to make it just poor like 15% and they would easily have more wins/points.

I don’t even think outside help will even benefit if Eakins doesn’t adjust. At ES this team has been good.

It seemed like Eakins deployed a kids PP last night that he had Mahura on. They started one PP and then the Getzlaf unit started the second. It could’ve been just because Getzlaf was in the box though.

I’m going to give the coaching staff over the past 4 years the benefit of the doubt that they do try other things but in their opinion it’s not effective. I agree that Fowler is not a good PP QB and I’ve always said he should be more of a rover than a QB if he’s on the PP. Unfortunately I don’t see a better solution, hopefully Mahura can step up or someone else can be brought in.

Hronek laughs in the face of Fowler's muffin shot. Would be nice if Ducks had someone, anyone who could do this on the PP.

Would anyone be against adding Kovy to the team?

He would immediately bolster our sucky PP.

i was thinking purely from a PP and offensive standpoint we could use him. Next year of his contract is hard to fit in though and he’s not really much of a team player.

We don't need a hired gun to QB unless they can viewed as part of the future. No on Kovy.

We need to figure out how to get 5 guys playing together in unison. No matter who is out there, they generally look like the Keystone Cops with players and passes never finding each other.

Not sure if Mahura is the answer on the PP looking at his numbers I just don't think he is a natural QB with his shot.
I get his 3 assists in one game but he has seemed a bit flat since then. Love his hustle but I think Eakins is depending on him since he knows the system from the gulls, Maybe it will work.

About an 8-10% chance I’d say

Hockey is an insanely fast sport in a small rink made of ice. Teams get lucky bounces at LEAST 5 times per game and they end up with a chance they never would’ve had unless the puck accidentally bounced off a D man’s skate or something.
Just fling it there. Don’t shoot it wide. Fling it directly at the goalie and see if you get lucky. It might bounce 100 times before it finally reaches someone’s tape for an easy tap-in goal.
Of course, we rarely complete passes to the slot anymore because of how little we enter the zone with possession. But it’d be nice to have less shots from the point and more shots from within 30 feet.

I'm amazed they even finished on top of the league in 15-16 considering the personnel and setup are still similar. The last lineup they had with all the elements for a good PP was 10-11 IMO. Lubo as the QB, Getz distributing from the boards, Selanne in his office and MVPerry causing havoc in the crease. No good QB since then. No one-time threat since Teemu retired and obviously nobody willing to fight in front of the net like Perry did. It's actually comical at this point to see an NHL team so inept at getting pucks on net. Even with big shots like Vats and Montour back there since, they weren't very accurate and couldn't be considered reliable. And there's absolutely no assertiveness out there. So tiring to watch the game plan of "just throw the puck towards the net and hopefully it will find its way into the net."

*heavy sigh*

Can Sheldon Souray un-retire so we can have a PP specialist?

I think we actually do have a one-time threat but he's not being used in that role. His name is Ryan Getzlaf.
