Nice to see a title race in the Eredivise, PSV were not good enough to run away with it. Anyone thinks AZ or Zwolle could finish 3rd in front of Feyenoord?

Meanwhile in Russia, winter is coming, and nobody could predict this again. That's why we have 3 straight home games for last-place SKA-Khabarosvk, last Sanday CSKA were the victims of the calendar. They won 4-2 and only lost 2 players to fractured fibulas, synthetic field and -17 C frost.

Khabarovsk management don't give up and are going to host a game against Lokomotiv next Sunday, -20 C forecast.

Zenit broke their long goal drought with a 5-0 win over neighbour Tosno and are still trailing Lokomotiv by 3 points, with CSKA and Spartak climbing to 3rd an 4th.
Russia needs to go back to Summer schedule. They cannot cope with winter unless all of their teams build an indoor stadium.

Club Brugge destroyed Anderlecht 5-0 today

Ruud Vormer really deserves a callup for the Dutch NT. I know, it's only the Belgian league. But he's been way better than some of the players who've been called up in recent years. He's an exemplary captain, always gives 110% and would at least bring something to that locker room. So far this season he has 5 goals and 15 assists in 20 games so the numbers back up his play.

Ajax won 3-1 today, Kluivert scored a screamer, Neres had a goal and a fantastic assist to Dolberg. 8 goals and 9 assist in 16 Eredivisie matches this season for Neres.

Kluivert's goal was fantastic. Neres and him have quite the bond going as well. Any team would be lucky to pick up the pair of them (and should, they're both dynamite). Neres probably should have earned a pen aswell.

Celtic-Rangers ended scoreless and the ironic thing is if Aberdeen win their match today there will be a tighter "title race" in Scotland than in the EPL despite the constant heckling of how poor the SPL is :D

Watching parts of the match, it was a solid game, Rangers missed a golden chance at the end. Though as somebody who doesn't follow SPL closely, I'm amazed that some of the guys on Rangers are still around playing at a respectable level: Kranjcar (guy even in his prime was never in the best shape and he was in the NASL last year), Bruno Alves who must be almost 40 now and I slightly remember Pena from Mexico's last World Cup, with Pena I'm more shocked he went to Scotland when he was playing for decent Liga MX clubs and is a Mexican NTer

In League One, Milton Keynes played the last 65 minutes down two men and didn't concede a goal. They won 1-0 on a goal they scored when there only down one.

So, another really good Dutch midfielder coming. Eiting replaced Schone in today's game and he looks amazing. de Jong's been handling well his 'libero' role, too.

Czech league started back up this weekend, with Stanciu scoring in his debut for Sparta (with fellow Romanian Nita in net and Gabonese newcomer Kanga adding a penalty), moving them into fourth only two points back of second. Leader Plzen only tied with second-place Olomouc, but remains 14 points clear of the pack without a league loss yet this season.

Came here to post his hat trick and left not disappointed. Thank you Pedro!

Sampa again in the stands... at this point if I'm Lautaro I'd file a restraining order. He'll be at the WC and sadly(wrongly) he might be in place of Dybala. Still this guy is a helluva talent.

2022 is gonna be insane.

Goal machine otherwise known as Martinez with another one. Sampa in the stands... attached to the hip those two. I wonder what more he wants to see from him? You already included him in the team for the next set of friendlies.

Stramacionni finally booted from Sparta Prague. Some of the other Italian coaches on his team are apparently talking trash in the Italian media. LOLL, this could be the worst finish for Sparta in the history of the independent Czech league, the first time in the past 36 years they don't make Europe. If anything they were given more leash than they deserved

The unbelievable has happened, Lokomotiva (aka Dinamo II) has beaten Dinamo Zagreb for the first time in 28 tries, and it was 4:1 to boot with two penalty kicks

After going unbeaten in the first half of the season, Dinamo has lost 3 of 4 matches after the winter break and of course their manager is on the hot seat. There is some drama in the title race, Hajduk will probably be 6 points back after today (makes their home losses to Slaven and Rudes even worse) with Dinamo still having to come to Split. Dinamo still favorites of course but the reduction to a 10-team league has created at least some interest

Though of course there will be conspiracy theories on how this happened and it will fuel the pro-Dinamo media even more that the league is clean as a whistle

What happened to Rijeka? Suffering from a Europa League hangover?

Multiple reasons....as you said league hangover, extra games in Europe (they didn't make the group stages of EL last season which in the grand picture helped them) and they sold pretty much every starting player in the two transfer windows following their title with the reinforcements taking time to settle or not being so good. Of the ten players with the most appearances last season they sold 7-8 of them: Andrijasevic (Gent), Misic (Sporting), Ristovski (Sporting), Vesovic (Legia), Males (China), Mitrovic (Besiktas, now Brugge), Gavranovic (his contract was expiring and he didn't want to renew so Rijeka sold him to Dinamo in a swap deal where they got a young midfielder at least)

Anyway back to the CRO league update, Hajduk continued the drama of this round in the league with their goalkeeper scoring a goal in the 96th minute to win a game against Istra, a team in financial woes who are barely surviving and might not exist by next season

Mitrovic (Besiktas, now Brugge)

And he's been very solid. We had some injuries when he arrived so he had to play right away, scored in his first game and hasn't been out of the starting line up since. Good player.

Anyway, today was the final day of the regular season in the Belgian League. Even though all the big teams struggled mightily in the first half of the season, every one of them eventually made it to the Championship playoff. Club Brugge, Anderlecht, Gent and surprising Charleroi were already in, both Genk and Standard punched their ticket today.

Plenty of drama in the relegation battle as well. KV Mechelen, one of the biggest historical clubs in Belgian football are going down after a hugely disappointing season, they lose out to small club Eupen on goal differential. Eupen had to win big today, they hadn't won a game by a 2 goal margin (or better) all season long and now they win 4-0 with some questionnable goals to say the least

Also, Eupen are an affiliate of the Qatar Aspire Academy, and the team they beat (Mouscron) are owned (well, not officially, but through shady constructions) by Israeli football agent Pina Zahavi. And yesterday, in the 2nd division Championship game, Cercle Brugge gained promotion to the First Division. Another small clubs that looked to be on their way to bankrupcy until Monaco owner Vasilyev bought them up last year, brought in 25 new players and now they're basically the Monaco B team, playing in the Belgian League. The team they beat out for promotion? Another historically big name in Belgian football, Beerschot, an Antwerp based club.

Even Anderlecht almost ended up in the hands of Alisher Usmanov this year when the club was put up for sale, luckily they were sold to a Belgian businessman.

Saw in Switzerland that Young Boys are 17 points ahead of FC Basel (Basel do have two games in hand but still quite surprising). Basel have won 8 straight titles, 9 of the last 10

Greek Superleague is f***ing mental. PAOK's owner trying to get to the ref on the pitch with a gun in his holster, because he controversially disallowed a game-winning goal in the ET of the 2nd half, after threats were made on his life, the ref changed his mind and declared the goal as a good one. All of this a couple of weeks after PAOK got three points taken away from them because their fans hit the opposing team's coach with a roll of toilet paper, only to see those points be returned to them days later.
