Gent out of Europe and now back to back losses in the league. Are Kalinic and Andrijasevic injured? Noticed they haven't played much so far

Zenit annihilated Spartak 5-1 and set home attendance record with 53359.

Kerzhakov has officially retired:

CSKA also looked like trash and lost 1-2 to Rubin. Doesn't look good for our teams in the CL.\
Zenit and Lokomotiv both with 12 points after 4 games.

Zenit destroying Spartak. 5-1 late in the second half.

Kalinic has a broken toe and will be out for a while

Andrijasevic was hit in the head against Altach in the Europa League and should be back next game

Zenit sending a clear message.

Defending champs Spartak currently in 10th.

Late red cards for Luiz Adriano and Smolnikov.

Consecutive league losses for Rijeka, they will be affected by their lack of depth and now that they will play in Europe until December (last season they were knocked out in July which became blessing in disguise). Also their home loss to Dinamo Zagreb was the first loss at home since July 16, 2015 when Aberdeen beat them in an EL qualifier. On paper this Dinamo team doesn't look that impressive but their new coach has them playing decent stuff for now, the real test will be in Europe where they have been an embarrassment for a decade. They should qualify for the ELGS where they might be in Pot 2 so a good chance for a favorable draw, which doesn't always help them of course :D

It'd be neat for Arsenal to face Zagreb again in the Europa league this year. The last match-up was entertaining, although I'm not sure if the same core of players are still there.

Did they sell any other key players apart from Andrijasevic?

Seems like plenty of league champions are struggling to start the season. Kopenhagen currently in 7th place with 6 pts from 5 games. Spartak Moscow with 8 from 6. Legia Warszaw 7 from 5.

Selikhov should really have stopped Vitinho's shot that gave CSKA the full 3 points.

Not really, only other notable player they sold was defender Stefan Ristovski to Sporting in Portugal, the window is still open and probably a lot depends on their playoff with Olympiakos. Also I think it's natural for team like Rijeka to have a let down, last season was sensational and hard to repeat. They also didn't really strengthen their squad in the summer, they brought in nobody of note while Dinamo, Hajduk and Osijek all improved (though Osijek might sell two defenders abroad)...this is one of the rare seasons Dinamo haven't sold anybody, simply because there isn't really a player there at the moment with huge demands from abroad

Lokomotiv with a surprising home loss to newly promoted Tosno. Now 3 points behind Zenit.

The ref should have sent Lunyov off for playing the ball with his hand outside the box, but Zenit would have demolished Terek anyway. Clear cut championship frontrunners right now.

Lokomotiv's major roster problems are starting to bite. Losing their only striker and the only player who has some forward skill forces Syomin to play junior league Kids (Koryan and Galadzhan) or central defenders as forwards.

Lokomotiv catches up with Zenit (for today) with a wicked 4-3 win against Spartak. The paper champions scored 2 early, but Samedov (former Lokomotiv winger) got his 2nd card late in the 1st half (for diving lol), and Loko barraged Spartak's defense with 4 straight goals. Spartak is going to experience serious problems in the CL, they were torn apart by a team with no strikers as soon as they tried to play defense.

This start to the Belgian league has been absolutely crazy so far.

Champions Anderlecht have lost two in a row and have only 4 points from 4 games. Gent lost again tonight (2-3 after being up 2-0) and only have 1 point. Genk and Standard, both looking to get back into the championship playoffs after missing out last year, started with 4 from 4 as well. Oostende, who played so well against Marseille in the EL qualifying, have lost all 4 games and only scored 1 goal so far.

Meanwhile vice champions Club Brugge are top with a 4-0 record after having to fit in a bunch of new players and appointing a new (and very inexperienced) coach.

If the championship playoff would start today, the participating teams would be Club Brugge, Charleroi and Zulte Waregem (both were in last year), Antwerp FC (champions of the second division last season), Royal Mouscron (avoided relegation on the final day last year) and Sint Truiden, a small club from the countryside who have already beaten Anderlecht, Gent and Standard in the first 4 games :D

I know this won't last but it's been nuts so far.
