I would like to know progression or regression of the first rounder of the 2004 draft after a full season of play.
If you believe the prospect has improved his stock as an NHL prospect put a "+" next to his name, if you believe he has not done much to help or hurt and is pretty much where he was leave it blank, and if you believe the player has had a season which has lowered your opinion of that player, put a "-"

    1. Alexander Ovechkin
    2. Evgeny Malkin
    3. Cam Barker
    4. Andrew Ladd
    5. Blake Wheeler
    6. Al Montoya
    7. Rostislav Olesz

    Homer much?

Korpikoski was one of the youngest players playing in the Finnish league. Hell, no one even thought he would be on the team, let alone be on it the whole season. Played pretty well for his position on it, as well. I can't see why you think he would move down.

    1. Alexander Ovechkin
    2. Evgeny Malkin +
    3. Cam Barker
    4. Andrew Ladd (his points total dropped but hes still one of the safer bets to make the NHL)

Yes, as a matter of fact :)

My rationale is that (strictly based on what I've read, I don't get any chances to watch FEL games) Korpikoski has been worse on the defensive end then they had hoped and is probably not going to be in NA anytime soon. Then again a lot of this info is from objective sources, so take it with a grain of salt.

He was a project from the start...Rangers knew right away it would take him longer then other players to reach his full potential. The kid has one of the highest work ethics from the people on that list..another reason rangers chose him (since we end up with all the lazy players it seems..yes Kovalev im looking in your direction)

2 be completely honest i think it was way to early to judge him yet...in 2 years we will see if the pick was a good one or not.

I thought he had a poor WJC and didn't step up offensivly for Finland. The ability to step up when your team needs you should be high in many GM's minds, unless you are looking for secondary scoring. His 2003-04 season in SMLIGA was impressive, his 04-05 season was nothing impressive. How do you feel he improved his stock?

I think Zajac improved immensely. You know something, it wouldn't surprise me if he came out being one of the better picks from this draft. Everybody talks about Malkin and Ovechkin, but look at the situations they're going into. It's going to be messy in Washington and Pittsburgh for the next little while. Zajac will be going to a perrenial cup contender and will be groomed properly, not rushed.

I think Zajac's potential impact might actually rival Ovechkin's and Malkin's when he does get to the NHL. Once again, another great pick by the Devils.

Korpikoski played 4th line with very limited ice time.

I agree as well. Chucko was also quite impressive. Two kids that came out of the BCHL and had a lot of people questioning their talent because they were playing in a "lesser" league. Both excelled at the collegiate level during their freshman years.

Is it just me, or is the trendy thing to do now to pick random guys from the 2004 draft and talk about how they could be just as good or better than Ovechkin and Malkin? Really, if the last year has shown anything, it's just how far ahead of everyone else in that draft class those two are.

If you watched it he did step it up and you watched the games he was the star of the game a few times yet didnt score i mean i couldnt even count the number of times he hit the bar.... really every game like a few times and he doubled his production last season yet i dont think his stock increased i just think it stayed the same most say and polls say if draft was redone he'd of gone top 5 where he was predicted to go
