MVP - Crosby, Montoya, or Ovechkin.

Realistically this would only come true with Montoya as MVP. Malkin is unlikely to be top forward if another forward is MVP.

Ok, I'll go with the obvious:
G- Montoya
D- Phaneuf
F- Crosby
MVP- Crosby
All-stars:
Crobsy-Ovechkin-O'Sullivan
Phaneuf-Barker
Montoya

Too much to expect from Crosby?

Time will tell. At present it seems he has as good a shot as anyone. :)

Everybody is so high on montoya and schwarz. Wow, i've always noticed that the WJC is the tourney where little known goalies explode. I don't know who to pick, but i can't wait till i see a new goalie come out of nowhere and i wouldn't be suprised to see that happen.

Watch Tobler from Switzerland. He could be stellar. He remembers a young Abby.

Why do you think that?

Oh wait, it's obvious. It's because you're a penguins homer and he's a penguins prospect. Duh.

Or because he's actually on to something and Goligoski is a quality defenseman, especially offensively? Guess what? He's right!

Top Defenseman: Dion Phaneuf

Top Forward: Alexander Ovechkin

Top Goaltender: Tuukka Rask

1st Team:

Sidney Crosby - Alexander Ovechkin - Evgeni Malkin
(Jeff Carter, Anthony Stewart, Rositslav Olesz, for 2nd team )
Dion Phaneuf - Ryan Suter (Ladislav Smid is my runner up)

IMO the two players who well surprise at this tournament are Tuukka Rask who has dominated all tournaments he's had the chance to with players in his age level. IMO he well be the top goaltender of the tournament.

BIG SLEEPER: Rostislav Olesz well break out at the WJC's this year. THe guy is extremely talented and very mature, with a more veteran Czech team this year he'll explode with a great performance.

Awful pick.

Shawn Belle will not be the best defenseman in the tournament... he's not even a top 4 on the Canadian team and will be playing mostly a defensive game since he's a poor offensive threat.

Here's a guess at what Leafaholix will say (he replies to everything):

Goalie - Pogge - Canada will have several goalies injured in camp, and Pogge will be called in, and rescue the day. Once Sutter sees him in training camp he will realize the error of his ways, and Pogge will be the starter.

Defence - Vorobiev. A no brainer. He's playing in the Russian League, he's a Leaf pick....duh.

Forward - Jan Steber. I still can't believe those idiots in the WJC pool haven't picked him yet. A natural sniper if I've ever not seen one.

MVP - Steber. By far the most talented player at the tournament.

Ovechkin should be the MVP of the tourney. Or at least put up a lot of points.

But his high scoring team might limit the number of points he specifically gets.

Though, I think Malkin could win the award.

Alot of people picking Crosby but I'm not sure he'll get the icetime.Sutter already
quoted in the Globe and Mail that Carter has been the best player so far and
then you have the Richards Dawes and Fehr line.Plus Crosby is playing on the
wing in camp so far.In the Q this year he has almost twice as many points at
center than at wing.

How many points did Ovechkin have last year?....did he light it up? I'm sure he would have been a force, but I don't think I remember him winning any awards?

How about Malkin?

Obviously Crosby played last year, but I'm not sure if either of Ovechkin or Malkin played in the WJC as 16 yr olds? Just for comparison sake.
