With all the grief that we give this coaching staff, I thought it would be appropriate to give them some kudos when it's deserved.

Oilers clearly scouted the Kings PK and identified a major weakness.

They collapse into a tight box but leave the goal line forward lots of space.

Here it is against Vancouver just one game before:

Check at about 33 seconds. Eriksson scores almost identically to Maroon.

Again at 1:05. Puck doesn't go directly to Ericsson but he is again wide open on the goal line.

AGAIN at 1:20. Sedin doesn't walk out front this time because there is a wide open passing lane. If he does walk out it might have been the same result.

For reference here is Maroon's goal:

Note in all these occasions they target the side opposite Doughty and all he can do is try to either block the pass or wave at the puck carrier.

Good point Cloned. So that was the game before, so I'll assume (I missed the game), that Doughty's LHD was the same player on both occasions. Who's Doughty's D partner? IS he his regular guy on the left? Just curious.

And of course, all that being said, good to see the advanced scouting happening for once in the last number of years. We have a good coaching staff.

But the coaching staff ran Schultz and Yak out of town and are currently ruining Pool Party, so it is absolutely forbidden to applaud them for ANYTHING, right? :sarcasm:

I kid, I kid. Great post.
