BE WARNED

Everybody keep their freedom of speech, political, gender, color and religious views to themselves or go to the Political Board.

10) Off-Topic Posting: Posts are to be on the topic of the board description where they're posted. Off Topic posts may be moved or closed at the moderators discretion. We do not allow homework threads. All political discussion is to be done on the Political Discussion Forum.

17) Moderator Abuse (Attacking/Disobeying the moderators): If you disagree with something the moderators did, fine, disagree and let us know, but do it politely through PM or email ONLY. Complaining on the forums is not permitted. If your thread or post was moved/closed/removed there was a good reason for it. Do not start a new one. Attacking or flaming a moderator via PM is subject to a Moderator Abuse infraction. Be respectful and considerate. Profanity and abusive conduct isn't tolerated.
Do not plead the first amendment and cite your right to free speech. It does not apply to the private sector. This is a privately owned website. Dancing around the rules, purposely skirting them just to see us twitch will not help you out much, either.

Do not post on behalf of someone who's banned. That will get you banned as well. The idea of being banned is that the banned member no longer is a part of this online community and is not allowed to interact here. No making threads that give glory to banned people. It's not a violation to mention the them in passing but no threads that focus on them. ("Ah, Troll du Jour, I miss him so!" or "Hey, it's Troll du Jour's birthday!"). Prohibited threads include "What banned member do you miss/would you bring back?" type of threads. If a moderator gives you a specific instruction in a warning, and you blatantly disregard it, you are subject to being banned.

Looks like The Athletic will be coming to Boston after all. These are three cities who already have a pay site setup. So things will get challenging for Boston Sports Journal already.

Greg said he needed 4,000 subscribers to break even and as of today BSJ is at 4,855.

The Athletic will be priced a couple of dollars more a month but offering extensive national and local coverage in the markets it sets up in. For national baseball coverage they signed Ken Rosenthal.

BSJ's problem will be how much of an advertising push does The Athletic make when they enter the market and who they sign to cover the local sports.

The Athletic appears to be the reincarnation of 'The National' which failed badly in 1991-92 to become a daily sports newspaper. The product was excellent but they were doomed by horrible distribution problems.

Wonder who the Athletic would scoop for their Bruins coverage: Kalman, Bean, Benjamin, Haggerty, Anderson, or maybe they go all-in and get a big fish like Fluto? They apparently have the money.

Some you mention have accounts here. KPD too. They can post if theyre in the running or if they feel the need.

As long as its not to pump their own tires. We kinda frown on that here at dear old HF.

I'd go Kalman. Consistently good, insightful, and not afraid to push back when it calls for it.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/m...carton-co-host-arrested-fbi-article-1.3473530

WFAN morning show co-host Craig Carton was arrested early Wednesday for duping investors out of $5.6 million to cover his staggering gambling debts, authorities said.

The motor-mouthed Carton turned to crime after running up millions of dollars in losses with two casinos, plus a debt of $825,000 to an unidentified individual, court papers charged.

A 26-page Securities and Exchange Commission filing accused Carton of lying to his investors, going as far as to send phony documents and e-mails to his unsuspecting business partners.

“Carton’s deceit did not stop with providing fake documents ... When (one investor) made its $2 million investment, Carton misappropriated the money by lying,†according to the court papers.

I wonder who Boomer's new co-host will be.

They had Phil Simms filling in today.

I'm pretty bummed about this whole event. I spend a lot of time in my car for work, and despite not caring for any New York sports teams, Boomer and Carton were my go-to for morning talk radio ever since I moved to NY. Their program was always entertaining, even if they seldom talked hockey. (Boomer, for the record, is a huge hockey fan but his attempts to talk about the sport were often shot down quickly). Carton was a very entertaining radio personality, and had an inspiring story having to overcome tourettes to get where he is, but he clearly has some major off-air demons. He'll likely be spending some quality time behind bars, and from what little info has come out, it sounds like it's well deserved time.

Felger was getting on fans for the whole clown shirt/towel thing. Reminding people how goodell won and makes a ton of money etc

As if fans don't have a reason to think the guy is a clown

Sounds like he is ticked Portnoy went on WEEI this morning instead of his show. I don't know. Still sounds pretty stupid of him to complain about it.

What I heard Felger say is, fans should be celebrating the great win, Brady, Belichick, etc...not be so concerned with being mad at Roger.

Not that outrageous a take, but it's Felger, so boooo...

That's not how i heard it. First of all, it's possible to do both. Buying a towel or a shirt really isn't that big of a deal. You can mock goodell and celebrate the win/team all at the same time. But the felger spin/slant was clearly just to mock any fan that might enjoy getting on goodell.

I don't understand that logic. Fans are fanatics. They think the guy is a clown because the league routinely botches investigations etc. Just because you're rich and powerful doesn't mean you're not a clown. Or in this case proven to be a clown in certain situations.

NESN’s pinch hitters haven’t been making good contact

NESN’s ongoing quest to find someone competent enough as a color analyst to fill in while Jerry Remy is undergoing cancer treatment and on the nights when Dennis Eckersley is off has been hit or miss. What ex-Red Sox players Jonny Gomes, Lenny DiNardo, Mike Timlin, and a few scattered others have done is remind us how good Remy and Eckersley are at a gig that is much tougher than it looks.

This should not be a surprise. Try being coherent and energetic for three hours-plus in front of a knowledgeable, critical audience. Then come back and do it again the next day without being repetitive or cliché-addled. It’s not easy.
