Is jagr in?

He retired from international competition. He also was injured by a cheap shot back in The Czech Republic. Don't think he's come back

As mentioned, he retired from the national team (although he did that multiple times in the past already, this one seems final) even though there was speculation he would join our team for the Olympics. He played a few games in the Czech tier 2 league for the team he owns but was injured on the boards by a cheap shot as deadpool8812 put it. He hasnt played much since and in the current relegation round he is only behind the bench helping the coach. I got doubts he gets any playing minutes this season.

Sidenote: Even though the injury is elsewhere, Jagr claimed it was dumb to keep playing with his signature old Jofa helmet and he is not going to wear it anymore.

Btw if you look at his EliteProspects Jaromír Jágr profile you may see he got 0 pts in 10 play off games there - but thats because he always played one shift and went for a change immediately in all of those 10 games: to meet a requirement of games played in order to be allowed to play in the relegation round.

I know he got LBI and it was limiting him in Calgary. Is it groin or a knee? Can he recover enough to attempt a comeback to nhl?
If Lehtera plays in nhl next season and jagr doesn't there's no god.

He is very secretive about his timeline but what was written just few days ago doesnt very seem good... I think if he had hard time to land a gig in the NHL after having a good year with Florida (where the lack of offers actually led to worse conditioning over the summer, trying to work out too much after landing the CGY offer and in the end the injury he fought in CGY as he mentioned himself), future NHL gigs are highly unlikely IMO.. :/

As for what he actually said about his current injury, it is not groin, he claimed the following 4 days ago: Jágr má špatné zprávy: hvězdný útočník sice začne baráž na střídačce, ale na led vyjede jen těžko | Aktuálně.cz

Jagr is inured since early February with damaged tendons in right knee and injured meniscues. I will probably start on the bench - I would much rather be on the ice but I will be on the bench with the coaches instead. I could keep up with a little easier pace maybe but I couldnt keep up with the relegation round pace. I am not even sure if I could hold up in the board battles. I havent been on the ice for a month, I haven done a thing, I havent been working out. The likelihood of getting hurt would be high

He got injured in his 5th game for HC Kladno after coming back from CGY, got cross checked to the numbers feet away from the boards and went into the boards head first. He wasnt concussed but as he said, having the old helmet made him subconciously go into the boards a bit more awkwardly and as he went down he feel awkwardly on his knee

Knee injury at his age is a bitch. Really wish he came back though even as low minute pp specialist.

Ryan Dzingel on playing for Team USA:

“I’ve never played for my country before. It’s a really cool opportunity and there’s some really good guys going. There’s some speculation that (Patrick) Kane and guys like (Johnny) Gaudreau are going so it would be a good opportunity for me to play on a big stage. At the same time, my family is first, so hopefully we can get some good results in the next two weeks.”

Garrioch: Ryan Dzingel could be ready to take on the world

We'll see. I remember that last year pretty much all we heard about Team USA was regarding P Kane and his appearance on the WHC, but nothing out of it.

I think under normal circumstances Gaudreau would go but his dad was recently just hospitalized & Gaudreau took a leave of absence from the Flames because of it. It sounds like his dad is going to be alright but who knows if he’ll still go. Obviously not that I blame if he doesn’t.

In regards to Kane he’s in that group of players that I have to see it to believe it. Eichel is playing well right now to close out the year but with another big injury this year not sure if he’ll opt to take the time off or not.

Kane, DeBrincat, & Murphy are all in for USA. They’re waiting on an answer from Schmaltz & Gaudreau. Tkachuk (injury), Saad, & Galchenyuk turned it down. Dzingel backed out too.

Pageau & Beauvillier are in for Canada.

RE: David Kaše, after he joined the team he gave a short interview for idnes.cz

Interviewer said:
You have received a national team invitation, what does that mean for you?

I am very happy, I agreed to join the team with no hesitation whatsoever. I flew over as soon as we finished in Sweden. Now I want to prepare on step at a time, get ready for the games against France. That's the first step.

Interviewer said:
What was the season like in Sweden? Mora fought in relegation round til the vey end.

It was difficult, we didn't have much luck. We have made a coaching change twice, which lead to more pressure from above and that wasn't easy. Mora advanced to the SHL after a long while and we wanted to stay there, that was hard for us in our minds. However I am satisfied with my performance - I am happy I chose this way.

Interviewer said:
What's different about hockey in Sweden?

I wouldn't judge which league is better (comparing to Czech top tier I guess), but the Swedes do not put that much pressure on the system and structure. There are a lot of young guys who get a lot of space. Main difference is guys are driving to the net more and players are more confident there.

Interviewer said:
How is life in Sweden?

It was my first year abroad, the hardest thing was coming home after practice and making up what to do. I walked to the lakes a lot, my girlfriend arrived later on and we did quite a bit of skiing. Population of Mora is approx. 15.000 people, just like my native Kadaň. I have been living 90 seconds away from the stadium. I love Christmas there, so snowy - it started to snow in November and it has stayed there ever since.

Interviewer said:
Are you watching how is your brother faring in Anaheim?

We have always been big rivals with Ondřej, I am watching every game of his. We are in touch on a daily basis and I am really glad he made the play offs and also glad he is out of the cirsis he had. Even the announcers have apparently learned to pronounce his name correctly. (laughter) Dad is there now two attend two home games.

Interviewer said:
You are the only Czech in Sweden, why?

Well... I have no idea either. Other guys asked me about it too. Everyone has to pick choose their own way. For me, going to Sweden was positive.

Interviewer said:
The Philadelphia scouts wanted you to improve your shot at the end of last year, how did that go?

It went well I think, the Swedes put quite a lot of emphasis on that. One of many examples would be Milan Gulaš, right? (Gulaš spent the last 4 years in Färjestad before signing with Plzeň and his shot noticeably improved) I have worked on my wrist shot a lot with other guys.

Interviewer said:
What would you say about playing at the IIHF WHC with your brother - if Anaheim dropped out of the Cup race?

We have talked about i a little bit but they are in the play offs and I want them to go as far as possible. He has to focus on the team. But Kämpf is coming, depending on his medical check; my good friend from Chomutov, looking forward to seeing him a lot.
