I attribute this to the fact that I've been binging the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, but all of the jump ropes at the gym mysteriously disappeared. I expressed this concern with the front desk attendant who merely shrugged.

I suggested that they get someone on this right away to investigate.

Loving the new season, the moment JB Smoove appears on the screen, I just lose it, the guy kills me

I didn't love the first episode, but glad I've stuck with it.

Love seasons 3-5. I typically like the seasons that have an overall theme.

I was in tears when Mary shot Larry down and then he sees her with his doppelgänger.

"Solo: A Star Wars Story"

They couldn't have come up with anything better? Thoughts?

My thoughts are that this is going to f***ing suck.
What an unnecessary cash grab.

Han Solo was a big part of what makes the Original Trilogy great.
He's also what's missing from the prequels, a grounded skeptic who doesn't buy into all of the mystical and political mumbo jumbo.

Having said that, Harrison Ford IS Han Solo.

For someone my age (48), Han Solo was the ultimate fictional guy character of my generation (for me at least). I am petrified that they are going to **** that character up, and worse yet my perception of him. I don't want to know his back story. I got enough of it from him, in the movies. Whatever they do in this movie, it will never add to his legend for me, it will just subtract.

The idea of a young Han Solo movie never appealed to me. The name isn’t laughable, they’d can’t get more creative then that? What’s next “Boba Fett: A Star Wars Story”.

I have no idea if "Solo" will be a good movie, but the supporting cast is ridiculously solid:

Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clark, Thandie Newton, Paul Bettany, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Warwick Davis and Clint Howard have been named so far.

It’s still scheduled for a May release, hopefully we get a trailer early next year. Hopefully the next standalone does something different that isn’t related to the OT.

Lou, you hit the nail on the head with Han Solo and the same holds true with all of these stand alone films.

Some things are best left unsaid and some stories are best left untold.
Part of the appeal of Star Wars is that certain things went unexplained and were left to the imagination.
The prequels did a lot to cheapen this by explaining away the Force as something genetic at the cellular level.

I mean, I liked parts of Rogue One for sure, but it was completely unnecessary from a story standpoint.
Part of what makes the Original Star Wars (ANH) so great is that it just picks up mid story with Vader boarding the ship. We didn't need the back story.

Same with Anakin Skywalker's past.
In hindsight, it was better left untold.

Will be VERY interesting if they take the 70's Han Solo character or a modern day PC neutered guy. For me Han Solo was a primetime womanizing smuggler who did deals with the devil and fallen angels, yet having a soft / wholesome midwest side that popped up between heists and whatnot as a momentary flash of lucidity (like Nicholson in Shining) but then went back to the business. It would be a shame for those that are old enough to know what the 70's and 80's were like to see a neutered PC Han going to the grocery store to buy Lea's tampax and giving that raised eyebrow (you know / whatta guy gotta do look) in this remake.

Disclaimer before I get banned - I am NOT a sexist ahole but simply putting this film in the context in which it was made back in the day for those of us living at that time.

The whole draw of the Han Solo character is the rough around the edges, cynical, self-centered SOB.

However, when push comes to shove, he'll come through and have your back.

I thought they should have killed him off in Empire like Ford wanted to have happen.
He was sort of lame in ROTJ. There wasn't much for him to do and he felt like an afterthought.

Be willing to bet the trailer is part of of the trailers before Episode VIII.

As for the movie itself, it'll probably be decent at best. That's a role that just should never have been re-cast. Harrison Ford is that character (Much like Indiana Jones), and no actor will ever be able to play it like he did. And the era ABSOLUTELY plays a part in it for better or worse.

Kenobi is a different story because even though Alec Guinness is ObiWan, Ewan McGregor did a fine job for what he had to work with.

RIP Gord Downey, a Canadian treasure

http://www.thehip.com/news/statement/

what a few weeks, Tom Petty now Gord Downey

Got to see the Hip a dozen times, first 4-5 times was in Kingston in front of about 20 people at local bars as my buddy was attending Queens and we`d take roadies up to party with him and we got to see the boys at their earliest. The Hip were alot like the TPATH, genuine guys who loved their fans

I saw that, we have Single A, and the west coast version of the Cape League in the summer. No idea where in that city built on sand (literally) they think they're putting a MLB stadium. They had hard enough time getting the 5000 seat field for the summer league approved and past the neighbors and that's only a 3 month season. I was hoping for hockey, we already have the rink in Moda Center.
