Who holds the record for most 1st Team All Star honors without ever being a 2nd Team All Star?

Lidstrom has 7 and I was thinking Bobby Orr might have that record with his 8 Norris streak but then found out he was a 2nd Team his rookie year. Anyone know? :dunno:

That's funny because the first names that came to my mind were Orr, Harvey, and Shore. All three of them had one year as second team all stars! That really bugs me haha.

I'm pretty sure Lidstrom holds the record with 7-0.

Dominik Hasek, Guy Lafleur and Bill Durnan all went 6-0.

Doug Harvey was 10-1, Bobby Orr and Ted Lindsay were 8-1 and Jaromir Jagr and Eddie Shore was 7-1. (Shore might have had a few more all-star spots had the award existed before 1931).

In the NHL Official Guide and Register, they list goalies with 6+ selections, d-men with 8+, LWs with 8+, RWs with 6+ and C's with 8+ selections.

Of those listed, entering this season, goalies Bill Durnan and Dominic Hasek and RW Guy Lafleur all had 6 1st's and 0 2nd's.

Other 1st-2nd-Total breakdowns: Shore and Jagr are 7-1-8, Orr and Lindsay are 8-1-9, Harvey is 10-1-11.

Thanks for the replies!

I was thinking 7-0 might be hard to beat since if you're at the top that often you'd think you'd get close and just miss once. At first I thought it might be easier as a blueliner since there are two 1st Team All Stars but then it's also easier to end up as a 2nd to break a streak of 1sts.

Like I said, obscure... :D
