So I know Bergevin like simple 1 for 1 trade and I want to keep it simple. Also, I don't mind much about rivalries to be frank as long as both team fill a need. Here is my proposition:

To Montreal :
- Nylander

To Toronto :
- Weber

Nylander can play center pretty well, he is fast, he is in our core age and will act as a piece for our rebuild.
Weber will solidify a lot Toronto D and will act as a mentor to Dermott and Rielly.

Lol...the biggest, fastest, loudest no you could ever imagine.

Here's an interesting article about Weber not guaranteeing to be ready for training camp after surgery

I don't think you'll find a single Leafs fan on this planet who would accept this trade offer.

Also, Weber's cap hit is huge. Can't forget that.

And he's 33. Not super old, but Leafs will get what, 3 solid years from him? Nylander is 22. Leafs could get another 13 years out of him.

It's just no. Never. No chance. Zip. Zero. Nada. No, we do not accept the fee for a collect call.

I'm sure the Leafs can find a better way to fix their defense.

Nylander is at the start of a (most likely) great career. Weber is on his way towards the end of his and costs nigh on $8m for the next EIGHT YEARS.

If Mtl wants to move Weber, they aren't likely to get fair value with that albatross of a contract.

Enjoy the 9M marner and 8M nylander with a 12M matthews then. You won't fit those 3 next year

So a 22 year old William Nylander for a 32 year old Shea Weber whom is pretty much on the record stating that he's not going to play out his contract. So why would the Leafs ever entertain such a proposition?

Because not playing out his contract only hampers the Preds. He'll play passed the point that penalizes whatever team he's on.

they would rather pay those figures for the big 3 than allocate any of that cap for weber at nearly 8 million. those numbers are quite off as well

You need a big salary on a #1 D... You cant just fit all your cap on your 2 first line.... Nylander will definitely be traded before next year

I would love to get a guy like Weber on Toronto but you won’t get him at the cost of Nylander. Toronto won’t be trading core players in trades(unless it’s a defenceman at similar age). Nylander is a lot younger. Toronto will trade picks and prospects for guys like Weber. If Montreal doesn’t want picks or prospects or thinks they can get more, go look elsewhere. I wouldn’t take it personally.

So you're still not going to give up a 22 year old 60+ C/Forward for an aging D man on the wrong side of 30 no GM is that crazy.

Again, go look some stats, a big defensive D will play until 38 before reallly going down. Weber still have some great years to come and with the leafs it would be a stanley cup containder

weber isn't a 1D, will be declining, and has a humongous contract. all of our cap isn't going to be spent on the 1st two lines because the figures you mentioned are high. also, nylander isn't going to "definitely be traded before next year", and if he was, i highly doubt it is for weber, or someone around his age

Nope. Oh, and using you numbers (which are inlated by the way) means 29is million for 3 excellent core pieces that are 22 years old and under. You guys are paying almost 19 million to a goalie about to turn 31 and a D about to turn 33.....i'll take the Leafs problems over the Habs.
