This move should've happened long time ago as in they should've re-signed him in the offseason.
You can't go into the season with a high-end rookie QB and expect him to improve under a rookie HC, rookie OC, no QB coach and even less experienced back up QB.

It should also be mentioned that Flacco himself has said multiple times he is not particularly interested in the concept of being a mentor, believing himself capable of starting (which, of course, he isn't.)

The Jets are truly generational at how to f*** up a young QB.

There was absolutely no reason to give anything up for Flacco to begin with. And then to turn around and still start Mike White lol. Josh Johnson is probably as good as Flacco at this point anyway.
