20/20 guy last season.

Won't expect that production, but he still has wheels.

Very steep price for a 37-year-old 4th line grinder. I like the Ladd deal better than this.

He's not a 4th line grinder. He's a 3rd line penalty killing forward that can score 15-20 goals. Doubt he goes 20-20 again, but a huge upgrade over Martin.

Also adds some much needed speed to the team.

This is a really, really good price for him IMO. Reasonable term and $$$.

Chimera is not a 4th line grinder. The guy is a legit 3rd liner with multiple 20 goal seasons in recent years. There's always the chance he can drop off a cliff (and his production has seemingly gone up in contract years), but at $2.25M that's a risk worth taking. Solid deal for the Islanders.

Gonna miss Chimera, even if we knew his time in Washington was up. Stings that he's going to the Island.

Think this is a good value deal. Not a huge risk cap hit wise and if Chimera finally breaks at age 38 or 39 it's no big deal. Like him as a player for what he brings.

He skates fast but doesn't play fast. Still a good vet and is usually good in the playoffs. As a bonus he's also killed the Rangers over the years. Not a bad deal at all.

This is a good value signing. Useful bottom 6 and special teams player. Low risk in terms of dollar and term.

At the end of the craziness of the big deals, it's small deals like this one that give you a better overall sense of how well (or badly) a team has done in the offseason.

Fair enough. Crazy though how everyone gives us crap for signing Ladd and Boychuk to deals that take them into their late 30s, but signing a guy already in his late 30s is a great move.

Fast skater. The guy had some nice breakaway / 2 on 1 chances, but had hands of stone.

you will be amazed by his speed and so disappointed when you see his first breakaway. Solid 3rd liner with hands of stone.

Because it's only $2.25M and 2 years. Worst case scenario, if Chimera falls off a cliff, you can buy him out next year and you'll hardly notice the cap hit.
