Jesus Christ, Perez Hilton over here... Ur acting like no athlete has ever partied lol

they have but not to the extent hall has. its common knowledge that the oilers had to cover for him on several occasions. I could really care less. my only point is that things like that wouldnt fly in a John Tavares led locker room, he's the captain not only on Ice but also in the training room

Islander fans know full well that he sets the tone and a Party Hearty guy like Hall was known as in Edmonton wouldnt fit in. its one of the reasons that Snow respects Tavares so much, because he's the captain in every sense of the word. he trains seriously and leads by example and as a result newcomers are expected to follow......those who dont. dont last long on this team. Griffin Reinhart is a prime example

So is Travis Hamonic, Who was traded because he needed to be closer to home.with the full support of the players who saw him as a brother

Awhile back the Boston Red Sox were described as 25 cabs for 25 players, om the Islanders under Tavares There are no cabs, they give rides to each other

Right here--shows value of top 4 D, just Hamo has been really bad this year. Just saying as a Leaf fan for all those who keep saying Nylander and Marner...look at this for what it takes to get a top 4. Again if Hamo had been having a good year it would be an easier sell. But if you look at his tenure in Long Island he is top 4 all day. I know I will get a lot of argument, and that is fine, I am looking at the trade for when it happened (before he played this year), that is a value on a top 4...no where do a see a future star going the other way.

BT is given lots of credit for being a good GM but he overpaid here....so bad that it would become his signature deal if the Flames dont make the playoff this year

as for Hamonic. He has been garbage this year but no worse than Hamilton and Brodie so yes, the Flames have a systematic problem.

I have no doubt whatsoever that Travis will win you over Flames, its just getting used to a new team. Travis is a Warrior, you'll see it soon enough

I wouldnt lie about this kid, he's had a serious issue hanging ove his head with his mom, cut him some slack amd he'll reward your faith. Trust me on this.

The only reason he was traded was his need to be closer to home, He played poorly last year with the weight of the world on his shoulders, but he did play.....he's a leader amd sometimes too responsible for his own good.

once he gets his family sorted out you guys will love that trade. Im praying for him

Should really create a thread based on the value of a top 4 guy. All the nut cases Nylander this Marner that. Apparently a lot of people here have no clue. Hamonic top 4 guy (before his bad play this year so far), this deal is a perfect example of what it would take.

He wasnt awful, he wasnt great. But he is a stay at home guy, still top 4 he is not a bottom caliber player.
the very definition of a team first player. most fans have no clue what he's dealing with and are judging him very unfairly. It would be easy to go public and have an excuse. but out of concern for a loved one he keeps it private. Im sure his teammates know and Im sure they respect him to no end

only reason I know is I have ties to the Isles from way back as a part time intern in college. so I heard from former players. This is a great kid, someone flames fans should be proud to call their own

no long time Isles fan has anything bad to say about Travis

crew Hall has a league wide reputation for being a party boy, from the team christmas party where he got drunk and trashed the bar where there was $16,000 in Bar bills where the Police had to escort him home, to the time in Winnipeg where he was partying with 2underaged females in a local motel

Hall was a regular in many local hotspots in edmonton, he was actually banned from The Rack and Billiards Club. for groping female Patrons. JT sets the tone for us, trust me, you can bet your bottom dollar that JT warned Garth of that, and thats why that deal didnt happen... JT is extremely team oriented he saw that in Buffalo on his Uncles teams as a kid, its made a strong Impression on him

Hall was never coming here a quick google search will tell you why

I guess Snow's published comments about giving 2nd chances (JHS draft) only extend so far.
Hall looks to have matured, become a real leader in New Jersey.

could be. edmonton fans who know him tell me the trade humbled him, so maybe it did but you have to believe that there was more at play there because on the surface it looks like a steal but garth did according to Staple turn it down

Which adds to the Mystery I guess

youve been around here as long as I have crew, you know Garth never gives us anything in terms of his thought process... even Arthur only gets what Snow decides to tell him.....I miss the old days when Darth and Trottier were on the boards to interpret garths motives for us

It's only an overpayment if we were to miss the playoffs. Otherwise it's a first round pick, and teams pay those for worse two month rentals at the deadline, and some other lesser picks I've already forgotten about.

Fact is

- Hamonic's salary is #5, maybe #4 money for the next three years. Cost-controlled with term
- Hamonic's offensive game is above average
- While Hamonic's analytics aren't anything to write home about, they're not Kris Russell bad either. They're basically Dion Phaneuf or Alec Martinez or prime Johnny Oduya type numbers, which you can live with from your #4 defenseman.

I'm not saying Hamonic is some amazing player either. In fact I think he's overall a drag on Brodie even compared to Michael Stone. But if we dropped him down to 3rd pair it would still be a solid and breatheable and movable contract. I also expect our penalty kill to improve as he gets more acclimated.

Hamonic is on pace for 8 points with the worst offensive possession metrics on the team outside Bartkowski.

He also has a worse CF%, GF%, SCF% and HDCF% than Russell.

When you have Gio, Brodie, Hamilton and even Stone and Kulak, there is not many chances for points. So measure him on his offense is moronic

I dont know, similar excuses are being used for Brodie. They are professionals, they should over come it. At least not letting it last over a year.

But all the Flames have problems so I think it's the system or coaching issues. Not so much individual player problems

both are quality players, I think its too small a sample size to read into it just yet. Ive always felt TJ was criminally underated on the east coast and I know Hamonic was (except if you talked to Crosby or Malkin. The've always to their credit, given him his props, youd think Isles fans would hate the penguins but due to the respect shown by them and especially the poster Sidney the kidney, theres a grudging admiration there.) the point being they are too good to just lose it.

give it time. players need to understand what their partners tendencies are. its not automatic. that can only be acquired with time and experience. while its certainly possible Travis mom may have taken a turn for the worse, I have to believe he'd take time off before he'd knowingly hurt the team in the process. thats just not the young man I know. When in doubt the most logical reason is usually the correct one.

give them time flames, they are both too good at what they do to both fall off a cliff for no reason

Guy's been improving every night.
Over the past 5-6 games, you can see signs of progress. I think about 40 games in or so, Flames fans are going to be happy to have this guy.

Most Flames fans are pleased with him, we know he can get a bit better but overall considering his adjustment to a new team he has done adequately thus far, he's been better than Hamilton was his first 20-25 games or so. There are some that will never get won over because they are too busy thumping their Corsi Bible or refuse to admit Brodie isn't perfect and will always blame his partner for all his flaws.

Using points and Corsi to measure the effectiveness of a defensive defenseman is pretty useless.

Huge Hamonic fan here from LI. Glad to hear he is starting to settle in.

I had always assumed Reinhardt didn't last long on the Isles because he sucked *** as a hockey player.

No he sucked because he refused to listen to coaching

He literally told assistant coaches he didn't need to work on his skating
