Ben Duffy of the Halifax McDonalds is putting up amazing stats for being only the 2nd 14 year old to play in the Major Midget (formally midget AAA) league in Nova Scotia. The first 14 year old being Sidney Crosby, Ben Duffy is a 92 born player playing Midget AAA this year and dominating the league he is 1st in scoring as a double underager. Certainly someone to keep an eye on for the future, certainly not in Crosby's class though, Duffy looks to be a future superstar if he contineus like he is.

Steve Anthony is also dominating the Major MIdget league as well on a side note.

let the overhyping begin...;) jk, it's amazing how much talent has come out of the maritimes in the latest 5 years....especially from Nova Scotia, with Crosby, Sheppard being 1st overall pick, and Anthony maybe being the first pick next year, and now this Duffy kid. How's it going for the other young guys from the maritmes like MacAusland, Street and Randell this season?

How big is the competition in that league? He's listed at 5'9" 160. Not a case of an early bloomer I would imagine then.

the size of this leauge is determined by their age. Its a bunch 14 15 year olds...... what kind of question was that lol. Its AAA:biglaugh:

Randell is doing really well in NFLD AAA so far, he is a physical Brandon Shanahan type of player, he has 2 goals and 2 assists in 3 games right now. Street only has 2 goals in 3 games. Still super early in the season though.

MaCAusland has 3 goals and 1 assist in 2 games for Moncton and Chris Eagles has a goal and an assist in 2 games for Fredriction.

you can follow NBMajor Midget and NFLD AAA on http://www.hockeyscene.com

that site will have all the updated stats for both leagues

What were Crosbys stats at the same age? Also, who is the kid from Ontario that is either 14 or 15 that is dominating?

Matt Duschene is a great prospects should go number 1 or 2 in the OHL draft this year (if he doesnt black ball with his Michigan State commitment)

Another kid to look out for is Ryan O'Rielly.. this kid plays in the GTHL minor midget league for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens... he is very dynamic

Lol, I played 2 on 2 and 3 on 3 shinny all summer long with and against him and his brother Cal who was drafted by Nashville and is a very good prospect. Big kid for being 15 I think, fast, shifty, quick, pretty nice shot, he's a top OHL prospect I've heard.

That's bantam. :dunce:

He's playing in a midget AAA league which is 16,17,18. Since it is triple A I'd expect there to be a bunch of kids that are 6 feet tall and bigger.

Average height of his team is 5'11. So pretty fair sized competition I imagine.

Grassy-azzz. So right now he's playing against guys who are bigger than him most likely.

Yup, most of the players would be bigger then him. So you;d have to think he's on the team because of talent rather then being freakishly big for his age.

Real early in the season though. He is pretty big if he's 5-9 though, and 160 ain't small. Time will tell.

Chris Eagles is a defenseman playing for Fredricton this year in Major Midget, he is possibly playing for New Brunswick as an underager along with Devon MacAusland, and Cameron Critchlow. Eagles is suppose to be one of the best d-men in Canada for his age, he is the son of former NHLer Mike Eagles, and his brother plays for the Moncton Wildcats. He is certainly a player to watch for the future.

I played against O'Reilly in High school hockey last year....He's extremely skilled, he led his team as a rookie (Gr. 9), I expect him to go high this year in the draft.

Ben Duffy is dominating the Atlantic Challenge Tournament now, playing for the U15 Nova Scotia team, they play against the best from PEI, Newfoundland, and New Brunswick for their age group.

Three players actually are phenoms for their age in Nova Scotia

Chris Dart is the 2nd, applied for the special exception rule to play Major Midget this year, he was not granted it, but it was not due to skill.

Kody Orr is the 3rd, Orr is big tall, punishing hitter, super slick hands, and possible the best playmaker in Atlantic Canada for his age.

All three players last year played Bantam hockey together in Sackville Nova Scotia.

Here is one of the scorers from the tourny, if you click on their names it will bring up their updated stats. Duffy, Dart and Orr all play on this team.

also here is the U15 top scorers for the tourny so far, there is still one day left of game so these are not final.

Brandon Hynes from newfoundland is also a big name to watch out for, dominating Nfld Midget AAA right now as a 14 year old.

No Dart, Duffy, Orr and Hynes are all among North Americas best 92s. Dart I would put in the top 5 players in Canada for his age, Orr and Hynes I would put in the top 10 players in Canada for their age. Duffy actually might be the #1 player in Canada for his age, ahead of Balisy. Dart is better than McFarland IMO and so is Hynes and Orr. Not just saying that because I am from the maritimes, but saying that because I have seen Balisy play and Duffy impresses me more and Dart, Hynes and Orr are just not known too much yet outside of the Maritimes but these guys dominate where ever they play. So I was able to assess how the players look and rank since I seen them all play and that is my opinion.

Dart and Orr are playing for Sackville Bantam AAA again this year, even though Chris Dart had 101 pts as a 13 year old last year in Bantam. and Kody Orr had 72 points as a 13 year old. This year Dart is aiming for more than 200 pts and Orr is on pace for about 150 pts himself.

Brandon Hynes is playing for Western Kings Midget AAA in Newfoundland, and is the 2nd top scorer in the league as a 14 year old. http://www.hockeyscene.com/hockeyscene/team_content.jsp?type=stats&lid=6&tid=12 Hynes is playing in the AAA league with Travis Randell who is one of the best 91s in all of North Amercia, Randell plays for the St John's Mapleleafs here and should be a top 3 pick in this years QMJHL draft.
