Great leap by him this year. If he doesn't get traded, his timing for the NHL coincides with Petry's contract (he might get in sooner, but be able to play 2nd pairing by that point).

"Weighing in at 174 pounds at the age of 19, he will fill out as he matures and will most likely play in the professional ranks at about the 200-pound mark. With added size, he will round into a solid two-way defenceman for the Habs."

What is a realistic expectation to have with respect to bulking up 25 pounds or so? 3 years?

I'm taking their "exceptional wrist shot" comment with a grain of salt as I don't know what they would call Sergachev's.....

Yikes. 174 lbs? Thats DD territory :help:

If he does not bulk up, he won`t be playing in the league. He doesn`t have the offensive flair of a Torrey Krug to compensate for his light weight.

There's no way he's 174, maybe when he was drafted. He's got to be pushing 190 as he hits like a truck and his frame looks filled out for the most part.

Kris Russell and Jared Spurgeon have had a lengthy careers and play at similar weights (170 and 164 as listed at NHL.com) so it's not like it is some impossible feat.

Also, he is listed at 190 on the Silvertips website

Thanks for clarifying. The author of that article probably should have given the Tips a call prior to release/publication.

174 is probably more Mete territory, and I don't think he's expected to become much bigger than that.

Is there exceptions, of course. Are the odds against his favor at that weight, most definitely.

On another note, there is nothing wrong with becoming a Russell or Spurgeon, to use your examples, but if thats what his ceiling is, then like i`ve mentioned in earlier posts, we need to use him as trade bait while he still has some `hype`.

He's never gonna be an NHL at 174 pounds, because he's 6'2.

Of course there's no way he even stays at 174 pounds, so some people are worried for absolutely nothing.

I mean, the only athletes who made a career at that size and weight in the last 30 years or so were tennis players.

190. The article I quoted from December 2016 unfortunately used his draft weight. Bad form.

I see. #AlternativeFacts

So i guess its all going to be ok. Forget what i said. Carry on everyone

Now I feel like Mike Pence probably felt a week ago :sarcasm::laugh:

Yeah he's clearly thicker than 175lbs. That's quite thin for a person that is 6'2.

1. Spurgeon has become one of the best dmen in the league.

2. These two guys play nothing like Juulsen.

He lost a lot of weight last year when his mouth was wired shut but I'm pretty sure he's not 174 at the moment. Has the frame to be 220 by the time he's in his mid 20's. Im sure he'll be at least 195-200 by the time training camp rolls along.
