Is he being shielded from answering questions about the team's play?, or his own play?, or is there something deeper?..... i.e. mental health?

It makes sense to me that they shield him while playing below his capacity. College coaches do it all the time, and it might be the same for young pros. Besides, usually the reporters like to talk to the star of the game, not so much the goats.
