Got to hold the joy cons for the first time today, and the controller thing the joycons clip onto. Not a fan. I loved the chuck/mote combo on the wii, and the pad on the U, but these feel really uncomfortable and cramped. The ergonomics are just off for me.

They are alarmingly small on first impression. Much smaller than the Wii mote and nunchuck.

Yeah to be honest... they suck!

But the Pro Controller is a beautiful thing!

also - if i have Mario Kart for WiiU is it a necessity for switch? like is there ANYTHING new?
i already decided no to BOTW until much much later. esp with the DLC it makes no sense to get basically the full game again.

Unless you boxed your Wii U away, I wouldn't. Ex. I have BoTW for both systems (only because I happened to stumble across the special edition), and it looks and plays the same to me. I also don't want to slog through the game again, and the saves don't transfer over, so I probably won't play it that much TBH.

MK 8 wouldn't be as grind-y, but I would rather spend money elsewhere; the Switch version adds a couple modes and has the DLC baked in, but been there, done that for the most part for me.

Now, if they released Smash for the Switch, I don't have that yet, just the 3DS version.

I played the shit out of MK8 and all it's DLC on Wii U. LOVED IT. I bought it again on Switch 'just because'. Feels kinda like a waste of money now, though I am glad to have it available at all times (I downloaded it on eShop).

I did my second play through of BotW on Switch (first on WiiU) and thought it was well worth it.

However I know you did at least three on WiiU so yeah, certainly would seem silly to pay full price on Switch for a fourth.

Sounds like the only thing MK8 on Switch has over the WiiU version is a real battle mode. Unless you have friends over regularly, doesn't sound worth it.

oh trust me. i replay Zelda (like everything) about once every other year so it will get its money worth. with BOTW, i'll probably get this later once thre's a really cheap used copy (then getting the DLC won't hurt so much)

I put in a few hours in the Switch and i am wishing i had been able to get this on launch. this is great. the joy cons aren't weird feeling as i thought and i've been trying to play a little bit w/the controller, and it feels nice. So i'm probably going to return the pro-controller and use that money to get another game. (i'll think of this for a touch. i know that pro-controllers tend to get "Hard to find" very quickly)

Mario vs. Rabbids - yay or nay?

Yes. I'm a big fan of that game. Great art direction, surprisingly deep and complex gameplay and actually kind of funny at times. It's an easy game at first but once you unlock all the characters and start doing some of the trickier tasks with turn limits or evacuating Toad it forces you to do some advance planning. You get to a point where you're respeccing your characters before almost every battle.

YAY but I would wait. It's fun but gets repetitive and there are some escort missions that are just the worst. But if you are into turn-based tactical battle games you will get your money's worth. It's super cute and has some good cut scenes with the rabbids too. They are funny.

Better resolution (when docked) on the Switch and 60fps instad of 59.... I would say you don't NEED it on switch if you play it / played it a lot on the Wii U. It's almost identical. I got it because I just don't boot up my Wii U anymore and it's easier to just play it from the console I have on at the time. Still a great game.

No problem! BOTW is fantastic. I am sure it will be players choice within a year. Can't miss out on that one! Easily the best switch game so far IMO.

Ummmm....I wouldn't expect BOTW to become a "Players Choice" game for several years.

Super Mario 3D World came out in 2013 and wasn't a 'Players Choice' for 3 years. Twilight Princess was released for Wii in 2006 and made a 'Players Choice' in 2011. There isn't some hard and fast rule about how/when a game becomes a 'Players Choice' or 'Nintendo Select'.

Nintendo just slaps that label on things whenever they feel like sales for a game have plateaued. And considering how the Switch is selling, you shouldn't expect any discounts on Nintendo games until at least 2020.

i can see that. it's like my favourite game. i'm really excited for the newest DLC so i can play it over, and over and over again.

playing Odyessy. It's good. but.. i'm not in LOVE with it. not like BOTW. actually not like a few other Marios. Maybe it will be different when i get further, but it's.. just okay. (a great okay) but not OMG LURVE

well i'm not in any rush. i'd probably get it now (I have to return my pro controller so i can get one more game so theoretically i COULD get this). but i want to get another game (maybe Stardew Valley? or I am Setsuna) to go w/ SMO + FE:W

Indeed! I feel the same exact way about Mario Odyssey. Not sure if you saw any of my posts in the Mario Odyssey thread but it just doesn't feel like a Mario game. It feels like the game was made as something else but then they decided 'Hey this would make a great Mario game!' and threw on some Mario skins and baddies. Like you said, great game but not "OMG LURVE!" lol. :thumbu:

i did ;) i remember chiding you about it too, but truthfully now i get exactly what you mean. now I can't put my thumb on it . and generally speaking i LOVE MARIO. the reason why i am a Nintendo girl at heart is because of that squat little italian dude  and i am enjoying the game, but there's the but.
