I know the boat has sailed for a while, but after watching the (just finished) Olympic final I can't keep from posting something for this kid.
Nikita Gusev isn't a player of kuch's caliber. But in the last two years he kept proving he can be a big time performer.

He got the most points in KHL playoff .
Last year, in his first appearance in WHC, he nearly scored everytime against big opponents (two against USA, one against Canada, two against Finland, etc.).

In his first Olympic journey, he ranked No.1 in points and became THE hero of his team.
He scored the game winning goal in the semi final.
Just a moment ago, he single-handedly saved his team from desperation in the final (2G+2A, including the late game-tying goal and the game winning assist in OT).

Is there any possibility we can regain his right? Still hope he can play in bolts jersey sometime in the future......

Yeah, my feeling is that Yzerman let Gusev go because he pretty much knew, probably via Kuch, that Gusev had no desire to ever play in the NHL.
