What a waste of a trade. Shore was a decent 4th liner that should have signed pretty cheap as an RFA, I don't get this move at all.

We already have McCormick signed. Salary/cap dump to open roster space for younguns!

One of the Tatar picks was a 2021 pick even. Might just be a sign of the times that trading futures is really being literal these days. GM's seem to be showing a bit more restraint.

Only a 7th in 2019 for Shore?

Habs got a 4th in 2018 for Morrow and they got Mike Reilly for a 2019 5th-Round Pick

Another disappointment. He had more value than that in my books. Hang on to him, he is going to be RFA. What's the point in "getting rid of him" right now? Could have gotten more this summer too

Always getting less than he should and always giving more.

Adds up quickly.

Only if we had qualified him. We probably didn't want to qualify him.

I think I wouldn't rather keep a young-ish NHL player than trade him for a 7th

Dorion probably should have got more, given the comparables:

Vatrano for 2018 3rd
Aberg for 2018 4th
Soshnikov for 2019 4th
Wingels for 2019 5th
Fehr for 2020 7th

If I knew we were going to deal him, I would have expected a mid-round pick this year, not a 7th a year from now, but whatever.

I wasn't expecting him to get dealt, so I'm not too upset with getting a 7th for a guy I thought would walk as a UFA on July 1.

Dorion is the type of GM that would trade a 3rd for Stalberg and then trade Shore for a 7th.

What the f*** is wrong with you people? Stahlberg is obviously better than Shore.

Also, this is more like when we paid a 7th for Wingels last year, which BTW, Wingels went for a 5th this year... But I guess that doesn't fit your narrative.

As I mentioned to you in the Belleville thread & post regarding JOB, I did mention that maybe they signed JOB because they intended on moving Shore & made the line Paul - JOB - Gagne. JOB is cheaper & may be as good or bad whichever you prefer. Not a big deal, hard working 4th line centre or injury callup, not like Shore did anything while here anyway. The Shore family must hate Ottawa now.

Stalberg was so much better than Shore he wasn't even able to get an NHL contract this season. What about that narrative?

And Shore plays a more valuable position. And also you've seen maybe 2-3 games of Shore right? They have very similar stats also... Explain how Stalberg is much better exactly?
