This was a good team that included several guys who have established solid NHL careers. Any other CHL teams that had this many players (on one team) eventually make the show?

A humorous memory of that season: Last minute of the last game of the year (getting pounded by London), this thin older woman with a blonde mullet, blue jeans, and a Knights machinist jacket stood up and screamed at the top of her lungs, "WILSON YOU f***ING p***y!!!". It was so crude and hilarious yet I thought such an honest reminder of his roots in amateur hockey.

Within the last ten years at least, the 2012-13 Portland Winterhawks were pretty stacked:

Seth Jones
Derek Pouliot
Nic Petan
Oliver Bjorkstrand
Brendan Leipsic
Taylor Leier

Keep an eye on the 2014-15 Greyhounds. Some of the players are still in the OHL, so the number may grow.

So far:
Jared McCann
Sergey Tolchinsky
Anthony DeAngelo
Blake Speers
Zach Senyshyn
Darnell Nurse
Nick Ritchie
Justin Bailey

Drafted:
Tim Gettinger
Boris Katchouk
Gustav Bouramman
Brandon Halverson
Colton White
Jack Kopacka

I wouldn't be shocked if Joe Raaymakers and/or Mac Hollowell find themselves getting a shot someday either.

From the organization that produces the most NHL'rs, I'll just pick out one season (not our best):
2011-2012:
M. Domi
S. Griffith
V. Namestnikov
A. Watson
A. Athanasiou
G. McKegg
B. Horvat
C. Tierney
J. Anderson
S. Harrington
O. Maatta
J. Tinordi (???)
J. Knight (AHL to Europe ???)

I also read an article from 2016 which mentioned that London, ON has the most NHL'rs per capita than any other city. Formerly, that title belonged to Regina and a Swedish city [forget which one]. I'm not sure if London has retained its ranking.

I'd imagine that Viking Alberta is way above any of those cities. I remember seeing list at the Hockey Hall of Fame and Sault Ste. Marie was tops for cities of a certain population (maybe 50,000?), but this was several years ago. One list I see has London with 52 and SSM with 43, but consider that London's population is 5 times larger and it's not close at all.

I think the interesting point is whether the players were drafted by their prospective teams or not. I know there will always be some super teams where players were traded for at the deadline.

Also, the reality is the CHL team success has nothing to do with whether players have NHL success. There are many GREAT CHL players that never really played much in the NHL if at all. I think teams should embrace those players as many of them are our all time favourites.

A suggested Thread:

ALL TIME FAVOURITE PLAYERS TO NEVER SKATE IN THE NHL.

Here's the link to the article that I mentioned from 2016 which ranks London as the #1 hockey producing city per capita (cities of 100 000 plus):
www.medium.com/the-cities-tribune/hockeytowns-where-nhl-players-come-from-99707d7c2713

Yes, the Soo would not qualify given its population is below 100 000.

The Soo is having a successful season, no doubt the result of excellent drafting and good coaching, and my guess is that the Hounds will win the O this season, yet still a long way to go before you can be compared in the same breath as the Knights' organization regardless of certain advantages/privileges that we enjoy.
I've also included a link to this article from September 7, 2017 for your reading pleasure which ranks the Knights' as the number one organization in the CHL.

How about a thank you for Jeff Carter and Joe Thornton?

Ahh Shane Prince. The one that Deboer rejected. Loved the way he played in Kitchener. They let a few slip through their grasp.

Um, DeBoer didn't reject Prince. Prince rejected the Rangers. Shane Prince asked for a trade when he saw he wasn't going to get top six minutes at centre.

Spott, not DeBoer (PD was long gone before Prince played in the O), wanted to use him as a winger on the bottom 6. Prince, knowing he was not going to bump Skinner, Catennaci, or Cimadamore out of a centre position, asked for and received a trade. The Rangers did not want to trade him and said so at the time.

The ironic thing about it was that one he landed in Ottawa, the 67's used him mostly as a winger anyway.

Yup but he played top 2 line minutes most of the time he was here. He played a lot of 3rd line minutes year one though I think. His following two years were stellar though. Great player.

Thanks for the correction Even. I am getting old and the years all mash together. :confused:My point was basically that the Rangers like many teams had players either ask for a trade or were let go for what ever reason. Prince was becoming a fan favourite here in KW because he was fearless for his size. I think he took karate. They had Mike Hoffman here also as another example. He went on to be skilled player in Quebec and the NHL.

Now Hoffman was the guy PD rejected. I heard at the time (take it for what it's worth) that meddling from his dad got him a ticket out of town and likely the reason he wasn't picked up by another OHL team on waivers.

I remember thinking at the time, "WTF!! Why did they waive this kid. He looks like a player!"

J.T. Miller was also on that team.
