Another Glow Puck Ad, FOX really hyped this up back in 1996

Kind of hilarious that at the beginning of the ad they use a sound clip that says "Shot. Scores!" with the glow puck sure making like it went in the net, but by the players reaction you can tell it went wide and bounced off the boards onto the back of the net.

Probably shouldn't include a play where your technology makes it more confusing in an ad for your technology

Fox uses the robots for the NFL now, and they sure are a lot more advanced than some of the old clips on here haha

1997 WCSF Game 3 Red Wings @ Blues

Didn't realize that Blues and Red Wings faced each other three straight years from 96-98.

Panthers vs Lightning 4/95

Rare to hear Dick Stockton to do an NHL game, he was well informed on the sport and its players, but it was clear it was difficult for him to call and keep up with the action. As someone who is trying to be an broadcaster myself, I can say hockey play-by-play is difficult and it shows how great guys like Mike Emrick are at calling the action.

FOX was the best TV partner the NHL ever had. Ratings were through the roof and FOX treated the NHL as a major brand. They should have stayed with FOX, but they burned that bridge (maybe forever).

NHL got greedy and left for ABC/ESPN, where they were treated like absolute dog crap. Didn't help that the league entered the dead-puck era at the same time. Ratings nose-dived, ESPN mocked the NHL nightly on SportsCenter, and the league's image was flushed down the toilet.

ABC/ESPN left the NHL for dead in 2004. Refused to offer any guaranteed money - only a revenue-sharing deal. One of the major reasons there was a lost season in 2004. The league had nothing to lose. They hit rock bottom and were willing to waste a season to get a better CBA.

People like to act that the "dead puck era" was all 1-0 and 2-1 games and extremely boring to watch. Was simply not the case.

Dead-puck hockey was absolute garbage. More like a bunch of 4-1 and 3-0 games. Just complete clutch-and-grab obstruction crap that nobody wanted to watch on TV (ratings nose-dived).
