Jesus that main board thread is a dumpster fire. Apparently Wood is just a cowardly depth player who needs to run people from behind to fit in on a team known for it's dirty play.

It is Flyer fans running their mouths. I think I only saw like two Lightning fans in there.

More ridiculous because our fan base was realistic about the hit, something Flyer fans are incapiable of doing with their goon squad.

Anyone suggesting he get more then Marchand for his dirty ass elbow are out to lunch.

Still waiting for @Bleedred to make his triumphant return. He will be grinning ear to ear after tonight.

Of course, this can all go down the crapper if the Devils don't take care of the Canes tomorrow.

Eh, well not down the crapper. I think everybody probably expected a 1-1 type weekend.

OMG... little man syndrome taken to a whole new level... hahahaaa

Totally insane and pretty creepy, I still can't believe he tracked his parents number down and actually called looking for him. It wasn't even a really bad tweet, you figured he wouldn't have been so thin skinned for someone in the media but it got to him lol.

So in a game in which we were pummeled possession wise, Wood Zajac Noesen finish at 60% corsi for. Only other player above 50% was Butcher and he was a dead even 50.

Next highest fwd was Nico at 35%.

Granted they were not getting top line opposition, but it does show a level of effectiveness from Zajac when he's a)not given the highest of responsibilites and b)when paired with high energy wingers.

Zajac is settling in as a good 3rd line C.

Trautwig has always taken little shots at the Devils too. This is going back decades. Like when showing clips of a Devils win he'd say something like "good to see some fans filling the usual empty seats at the Rock as Jersey prevails 3-1" or "The Devils in an exciting 6-5 affair? Another sign that we may perhaps be approaching the biblical end times"

I wonder what @Bleedred celebration was like

I'd like to imagine he did the DX crotch chop to Lightning fans as they left

Hey Everyone!

I bet @Bleedred is having the time of his LIFE over there!!:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

The Heckling he must be doing to Cooper and the Golf-Clapping fans must have been epic, too.

We're going to have a very happy Devils fan here when he pops in.
LOL nah, I'm cool with the Lightning fans and they're a lot more likable without blimp Bishop, who luckily didn't have his fat ass blocking my view tonight. However, I think it was harder to see with all of Andy Greene and Ben Lovejoy's smoke blowing around. Might have carbon monoxide poisoning from how much they were trapped in our D-zone tonight, which I was seated behind for period's 1 and 3.

I'm actually feeling a little daring though. I don't have tickets to the game in Sunrise in 2 more weeks and I probably won't be going, but after tonight, I'd almost consider making the drive down for tomorrow's game, if we were actually playing there tonight. I probably shouldn't push my luck though.

I think I've only seen Zacha play 5 times now, but he's scored a goal in 2 of those games. I think I saw his first ever goal, which was against the Panthers last year.

We got outplayed badly, but it was really just a few of the usual anchors.... I mean suspects who were awful tonight, and we took too many penalties.

Question for you, Bleed :

Bratt is really struggling, isn't he?

I think he needs a break and some here agree.

What was Andy Greene for this game? Do you have the up to date stats on this one? I'm curious to see what he was. He looked like he was pummeled out there, just using the eye test.

I'm supremely confident that Andy Greene is currently no better than our fifth best defenseman out of the 7 that are currently on the roster. Only Lovejoy is definitely worse. I think at least one of Moore or Mueller is better than Greene. Vatanen, Severson, Butcher, all much better than 2018 Greene. That doesn't mean he might not be a good bottom pairing guy next year, but he's really painful to watch in person. He looks even worse in person than he does behind a TV screen.

I remember a few games ago when people were saying all those young guys were hitting the wall. The only one that I really thought was hitting the rookie wall was Bratt.

Although I don't he should be scratched. If he's scratched, that means we're playing Pietila or some bum or Jimmy Hayes plays more or whatever. Really don't wanna see Pietila again, he's like a broke mans Blake Coleman. I don't even know why we called up Pietila. It's not like we had anyone better to call up, but I don't understand why we even needed a call up, especially since Boyle was a game time decision.

33% corsi for, and a -5% relative to the team. Sev's was just under 40%, Vat's just over 31%. So not terrible in comparison. Lovejoy was 45% and Butcher an even 50% but again, Greene played tougher minutes.

-5% relative is a good night for him in that regard, since he was about -7.9 or something on the season, the last I looked.

Hayes followed up a lousy possession game vs Caroline, with another lousy possession game vs Tampa. 11% corsi for. 1 vs 8.

Lappin out did him with an 8% corsi. 1 vs 11.

Hayes is another boat anchor. Probably the only guy that Pietila would be an upgrade over.

I thought Lack let in a couple pretty nasty goals. Goal 2 and 3, both on the PK were pretty stoppable. Goal 2 was pretty bad, beat him clean (I think) 5-hole and laid in the crease and was put in. Was in position for that Stamkos goal and it beat him short side. He looked kind of bad on goal 1, but it was a one timer on a bang bang play. He also somehow lost a very routine shot (it almost looked like a dump in) with a few minutes left in regulation, which somehow ended up behind the net.

That said, it's unrealistic to expect Lack to only allow 1 goal on 51 shots or even 2 goals on 51 shots. And it's also unrealistic to expect us to go 6 for 6 on the PK against a team like that. Too many penalties tonight.

The worst goal of the night had to be Lovejoy's on Vasilevskiy. That was one of the softest goals I've seen us score all year. No deflection in sight. That was a nasty, awful goal early in a game, from a guy who barely ever scores goals at all and probably doesn't even average 3 goals a season in his career. I thought Vasilevskiy let in a couple poor ones tonight. A lot of fans were giving it to him tonight after that Lovejoy goal, and I heard a lot of critiquing of his game tonight while walking out of the arena.

There were a lot of Devils fans there tonight. More than usual, even though there's usually a pretty good contingent. Perhaps the promising season has brought out some fans who might otherwise stay at home for these games when we come to town? Especially with how infrequently we win there. It feels like 2011 with this win.

That was a dumb penalty to take by Wood, but he had an otherwise pretty good game.

Zajac looks much better over the last 20 games, since he isn't being forced to play a Kovalchuk-type PP (I'm exaggerating a little bit there) role or in the top 6 for 25 games.

It's nice to actually have a 3rd line of REAL NHL hockey players and not have to depend on the Sergey Kalinin's, Jacob Josefson's and Tuomo Ruutu's of the world to only provide us with 15-16 points a piece over 82 games, while playing on the 3rd line.

The Lovejoy goal was a bad one for Vasilevsky, but credit the Devils for the others. The Zacha goal was a pure snipe. The Hischier goal was a perfect precision shot. He fooled Vasilevsky with the quick release. The Wood goal was just great grunt work down low but one that's probably stoppable, but not a soft goal by any stretch.

We played a superior team and didn't have the best possession game, but sometimes skill plays like you saw tonight from Zacha and Hischer can mitigate that. Plus we're without Boyle, Gibbons, and Johansson. We're down 3 pretty important forwards.

So here is the good news, I don't have the flu since last Saturday. Devils doing very well like with Lack in goal he got pounded 51 SA 3 allowed. And with team offense we score 4 out of 24 shots. Hats off to the team offense and Lack. Of course I missed it because still in hospital not with flu but instead with food poisoning. Never can I remember being so sick 8 days.

I guess I have to take one for the team so they can continue to win.

Go Devils
Might go home today, Sunday, but still with the chills. Keep winning Devils
