Go Parise! :yo:

I had heard he had sustained a small injury and was afraid he might be slowing down because of that.

Forget that thought! :p

Who was that hat trick against? Easy or tough opponent? I don't know the teams very well. Wish I could see some NCAA action more often. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Vlad: Yale is not nearly as stacked (talent-wise) as North Dakota. UND is one of the nation's top offensive teams. If you want to read all about the Yale/UND game from last night, jiggs (I believe he was at the games) put together a very good write-up over on the NCAA board. Here's the link:

http://www.hfboards.com/showpost.php?postid=401469&postcount=3

If you want to catch some NCAA games and have Direct TV, I'd suggest CSTV. They have a Friday Night "Game of the Week", which features some excellent matchups. There's a sticky over on the NCAA board that has the schedule of which games are on tap and the matchups.

Wow thanks again.
Got any info on Matt Moulson (Cornell)? 5 points is pretty good.
Any opinion on his upside?

I saw a few games that Moulson played in last season. I haven't seen a Cornell game yet this season (Cornell just opened their regular season this weekend), but will be able to see several in the not-so-distant future. When I do, I'll have reports posted over on the NCAA boards.

Meanwhile, here's some info about Moulson:

He's currently a sophomore at Cornell. He has good size (6'1/205) and possesses some terrific hands. He also scorer who has shown tremendous consistency as well as a player who could be relied upon to score those big/clutch goals. He led all Big Red freshmen in scoring last season with 23 points (13G, 11A). Back on 2/7/03 in a game against Dartmouth, he recorded a hat trick....the first Cornell hat-trick since 1998. He was twice named ECAC Rookie of the Week and was the recipient of Cornell's Greg Ratushny Award, which is awarded to the freshman who exemplifies excellence both on and off the ice. He spent time playing along side Ryan Vesce, who led all Cornell players in scoring last season and was among the nation's top scorers.

The poster calgARI from Calgarypuck.com goes to Cornell and follows the team closely. He had trouble logging in here and asked me to post the following response:

"Moulson put up good numbers last year and this weekend. I have never been impressed with him however. He has played on the first line his entire time with Cornell and playing with outstanding offensive players such as Ryan Vesce and Stephen Baby have certainly helped his production.

Moulson was a perimeter player last year and faded badly down the stretch primarily due to this. This weekend, his pressence in front of the net was more noticable. His numbers would dictate that he has good offensive upside, but I just have never seen it. He is not big. His skating is average.

That said, he kind of reminds me a bit of Chuck Kobasew when he was with Boston College. You never really notice him out there, but at the end of the game, his name is all over the score sheet. I would not take him on my team just because I am a huge advocate of skating and physical play and he does not excel at either. His numbers have been good. We will see how he does this year. There are a lot offensive weapons on Cornell and he is now playing on the first powerplay unit so he could put up pretty big numbers. I do think that fellow sophomore Shane Hynes (Anaheim) was much higher upside than Moulson, but just has not been able to put it all together yet."

Oilers Chick : Thanks a lot !
ICARUS : thank your friend for me. It's also interesting to hear the other side of the story.
It's obvious he has some flaws, because usually highly skilled players don't last until the last round, do they?
He'll have to work on this "perimeter" problem, but it's good to hear a comparison with Kobasew...

Matt Nickerson is the big story to me. 5 points in his first 6 NCAA games.

Remember this kid is 18, a true freshman, and a 6-5, 255 pound beast on defence.

Scary.

I hear the Flames' 5th rounder Greg Moore is tearing it up! What are his numbers at?

Also, any word on the "violation of rules" that McConnell and that other guy were involved in?
I've seen Moore play every game for Maine this year. He's got 6-6 in 12 games so far,but he's improved unbelievably over last year. He's a Power Forward with a capital P. He's big and strong and has speed to burn this year. 2 weeks ago he has 2 d men all over him in front of the net as he takes a pass he shakes them both of with his shoulders and buries the puck in the net. Tonight against UMass he takes a pass around the blueline and blows through both d men and RIPS it top shelf. If he stays at Maine another 2 years which I really hope he does he will be a man among boys.

Anybody ever see him play? Any info would be appreciated Oiler Chick.

I have yet to see him play (but will be able to later in the season). He's a freshman at Brown and he's currently not property of any NHL team. He co-leads all Bears players in points (3G, 5A - 7 pts). He leads the nation in individual ppg (1.40) among all rookies.

I believe he'll be eligible for the 2004 draft (he was born in 1985), and with the way he's been playing (from what I've read about this kid), he'll likely garner the interest of several NHL teams.

I've seen him play once this year against Yale but have also heard of him. He is pretty fast, has great hands and a good shot...the one thing that makes him stand out though is that hes extremely smart. The season however is early, but to open the campaign like this is impressive. As Oilers Chick said he will get much attention and if continued success may be a large sleeper in the draft.

Thanks for the info Oilers Chick and Canadien16... much appreciated. Don't get to see any games up here in Toronto and can't always rely on what I read.

the stats for November 25-30 is now up to date and complete. The stats from the BU/Yale earlier this evening have been added in.

And Oilers Chick keeps on rocking! :)

How much time do you spend per week compiling this?

Once again, thank you for your efforts. They are appreciated.

Just out of curiousity,
how can you score three goals but not be rewarded a hat trick? Unless you're talking about natural hat tricks (3 straight goals).
