NBC will broadcast 2 games the Opening Weekend of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. They will broadcast on April 22nd at 3:00 PM (Likely West Conf. Qtrs.), and April 23rd at 1:00 PM (Likely Eastern Conf. Qtr.). No word yet on whether 1 national game, or 2-3 regional games will be broadcast on each date.

If they were smart, both would be national games.

If OLN is also doing Saturday and Sunday, then regional games should be their own broadcasters between time or before time.

God I hate afternoon games - especially in the playoffs.

Lets see how the NHL bowing down to network requests will screw up the playoff schedule this season.

Be thankful we aren't NBA fans, with their 3 week opening rounds.

I don't mind playoff afternoon dates.
That way I get a tripleheader of playoff hockey. You can't beat that.
(Unless they show New Jersey)

Low Blow, dude. Devils play exciting playoff hockey.
more importantly, they play WINNING playoff hockey. Brodeur is 84-60, with 3 Cups.

You'll all have to suck it up for Devils-Rangers on NBC the opening Sunday. I garantee, it's some combination of Rangers/Flyers, Flyers/Devils, Devils/Rangers.

NBC has added it's schedule for April 29th and 30th. On April 29th, NBC will air a Conference Quarterfinal Game at 3:00 PM, and on the 30th at 2:00 PM.

I hate that stigma created around the Devil's brand of hockey...yah, sure, the trap is evil, blah blah blah.

But is wathcing Brodeur be amazing and all that speed they have on that team fun to watch? Gionta Gomez Elias is one of the most entertaining lines in the league!

And it'll be even funner in the playoffs.

Afternoon games = tailgating!

Although, I'm pretty sure Canes fans are the only hockey fans to do that.

Ottawa tailgates for the playoffs when it is warm! Tailgating doesn't work that well when its -20C!

Flyers fans will do that when it gets late into the playoffs.

The last 2 Phantoms playoff games in the Calder Cup finals, there was a lot of tailgating.

I would think every single Rangers playoff game would be on national TV.

And the Flyers wouldn't be?

Trust me, if the Rags are against a Canadian team, they won't be on.

Who said it was evil?
It's simply boring.

You get used to it after a while. But when the Devils bust out, it's fun.

Oh, and based on the playoff matchups IF the year ended tonight, this is probly some semblence of what the NBC playoff games'd be:

Saturday (4/22)
Probly a western matchup and right now, the only western series with two U.S. teams is Colorado-Nashville. So look for that. Since that's a weak market, they may throw an Eastern Conference game in with it. Buffalo-Philly and/or Jersey/Carolina'd be good bets.

Sunday (4/23)
Almost definitely Rangers-Tampa at this point. Maybe the other Eastern game that isn't on Saturday as well.

My Picks (If the Year Ended Today)
Saturday (4/22): Avs/Preds and Sabres/Flyers
Sunday (4/23): Lightning/Rangers

There's only one problem with trying to guess who's going to play when in the playoffs... too much homework!!

I like your guesstimates, but there's too many variables anymore... The match-ups are changing almost nightly, the NBA regular season & playoffs, pending the arenas, and "other events".

Remember the year the Panthers had to play a 1 - 3 - 1 - 1 - 1 series because of a Garth Brooks concert!?!!?!?

Games 1 & 2 are June 5th and 7th on OLN. I assume, considering they probly play every other day, it'd be over at latest on the 17th, 18th or 19th (In case they skip 2 days).

That is absurd. If the NHL wants other to take them seriously they can't have any part of their finals on cable.
