Every time the teams tried to "Move on" to the next guy they failed and never really got over the hump. Let's be honest, the Giants, Cubs, and Reds all were possible playoff teams. People got tired of Dusty and chased him out. But what happened after that?

Giants

Dusty left after 2002. In 2003 Giants went 100-61. They lost in the DS 3-1. They went 91-71 in 2004 and then didn't make the playoffs until 2010 when they won it all.

Cubs

Dusty joined the Cubs from 2003 to 2006. By the way, they won a playoff series, so there goes your narrative that he can't win playoff series. In 2007, the Cubs went 85-77. They lost in the NLDS 0-3. They lost the next year in 2008 0-3. Then they went cold for a while until 2015.

Reds

Dusty joined the Reds and managed them for 5 years. They lost a NLDS and a play in game. Then the Reds moved on. The Reds afterwards went 76-86 (2014), 64-98 (2015), 68-94 (2016), and 68-94 (2017).

So what is the end game for firing Baker? People wanted him gone because they wanted to take that next step, "win that playoff series". But how many of the teams afterwards really did that? How many took that step forward?

So is this an overreaction to a short sample of games or was Baker actually bad?
Short sample size? Dusty has been a disaster in the playoffs for like 20 years.
This was, literally, the best, most talented team in the history of DC and, frankly, the best team in the playoffs. And Dusty couldn't make the incredibly simple decisions like, pull the injured, tired pitcher after getting a lead in the 6th and using the three top end relievers your GM got you at the deadline. Or not starting the defensive liability hitting .155 in the second half.

If only it was so easy right?

Lakers take exception to Wizards center Marcin Gortat tweeting John Wall 'will torture' Lonzo Ball

This is joke. Gortat was responding to that idiot LaVar Ball's comments about how his son "wont lose" against the Wizards. It was directed directly at the team. What, the team can't respond to that?

People are making it out like Gortat just decided to put that tweet out there. It all starts and ends with Lonzo's clown father.

First Wizards game in a long while I’m really interested to watch. So many guys are getting up to play against the kid because of his idiot father. Torch that dumb hairstyle off his head John!

Girardi gone in New York, have to say he would be an upgrade over Dusty but at the same time don't think he's a player's manager.

Also former Nats Pitching Coach Mike Maddux appears to be the Cardinals next pitching coach. Thought the Cubs would have pursued Maddux after they had fired their pitching coach.

Lerners are cheap as hell when it comes to managers they wouldn't pay Girardi. Really sucks about Maddux I wouldn't have minded him getting a shot.

he did, which is why all the umpires came together

According to Torre, Washington manager Dusty Baker had the power to have the play overturned in the moment.

"If you've got a question, a rule question -- not a judgment question but a rule question -- if you don't like what the umpire's telling you, ask him for a rules check. And they can do that. They can go to the replay center on the headset and check a rule."

That’s not what Torre is suggesting.
