Name your top 30

Well; based on what I've gathered from a few scouts and taking into account some of Bob's selections and the like, I've complied my top 30 list for the draft.

1/ Johnson
2/ Staal
3/ Toews
4/ Backstrom
5/ Kessel
6/ Mueller
7/ Brassard
8/ Little
9/ Tlusty
10/ Okposo
11/ Sheppard
12/ Stewart
13/ Frolik
14/ Sanguinetti
15/ Bernier
16/ Summers
17/ Wishart
18/ Grabner
19/ Anisimov
20/ Varlamov
21/ Mitera
22/ Irving
23/ Helenius
24/ Alexandrov
25/ Foligno
26/ Mathias
27/ Forney
28/ Maxwell
29/ Zharkov
30/ Swan

After the top 25 it really gets difficult - I'm sure every team's list will be significantly different at that stage. Don't be surprised to see a couple of big surprises towards the end of the first round - maybe someone like a Denis-Pepin being selected just like Mihalik last season.

Name your top 30 - I'll save this thread and we'll see who ends up closest on draft day. The winner will be rewarded with heaps of praise.

Good top 30, the only one I'd question profusely would be Stewart at 22nd - care to explain your reasoning?

huh - if this rate of lists continues, I may up with the most accurate.

Feel free to list your top 30, no one is going to bite.

Most people are already doing that on the Mocks board, non? Look there? :dunno:

This isn't a mock. I haven't been to the mock board for weeks; after seeing about 100 or so i had my fill. ;)

This is the prospect board, and i am asking for people's top 30 prospects. :dunno: Didn't see it as being in the wrong place.

Here was my top 30 for my FHL draft last weekend.

1. Erik Johnson
2. Jordan Staal
3. Jonathan Toews
4. Phil Kessel
5. Niklas Backstrom
6. Derrick Brassard
7. Bryan Little
8. Peter Mueller
9. Kyle Okposo
10. Jiri Tlusty
11. Michael Frolik
12. James Sheppard
13. Chris Stewart
14. Michael Grabner
15. Jonathan Bernier
16. Riku Helenius
17. Cal Clutterbuck
18. Codey Burki
19. Carl Sneep
20. Leland Irving
21. Yuri Alexandrov
22. Nick Foligno
23. Artem Anisimov
24. Ondrej Fiala
26. Mike Forney
27. Dennis Persson
28. Chris Summers
29. Claude Giroux
30. Cory Emmerton

Neither Wishart or Sanguinetti are in my top 30 because I had no interest in drafting them, as I don't like either one as a prospect. I feel Wishart's lack of speed will hurt him as a potential two way defenseman, and I just don't see the potential in him. Sanguinetti while great offensively, I feel just isn't good enough defensively. I don't think he has the brains. Mckeens recently stated that they feel he should be moved to forward, and I think that would actually be an interesting move.

But... if every team takes the BPA, as they all say they do, isn't a mock the same as a list of top-30 prospects? ;) ;)

It's not that big of a drop if you ask me. He's ranked top 10 by CSB, true, but I think CSB just has a hard-on for prospects with size.

Who knows what the final top 30 will be? There are likely going to be several trades, and there are likely going to be teams that skip over goalies. Disregard who is picking and name the top 30 players.
