I’ve done this twice so far but I do want to say it again
-this is my own rankings
-I do enjoy answering questions on why I have players where (although 99% of the time I can’t explain it, I just like a certain prospect more than another)
-if anyone needs I can give a full in depth report on any prospect listed (could do some not ranked either, chose to not put it in the thread because it’d be really long)
-my list is very fluid
-YES I actually watch games and do a lot of research! I put hard work into these and I love making these
-my predraft list from last year is looking pretty good although I haven’t saved it, it’s on here somewhere, I had Pettersson in my top 5 when a lot didn’t even have him top 15(beginning of the year) and also had Robert Thomas top 15 when he used to be ranked 2nd round.
I have a top 150 but I’m not 100% confident in posting it just yet

i like your list a lot ! i have a couple of questions, there's a lot of different reports on the 3 unstdp Dmen, you have wilde first, what do you think of is IQ, defensive side etc ?
Also curious about akil thomas i have limited viewings of him but i seems like he could be pretty good, what's your take?
At last, what about Mcisaac ? why so low ? thanks !

Wilde
IQ- low, not impressed with it
Defensive game- he has defensive tools with his size and physicality but his defensive IQ isn’t too well, fixing it is hard but can be done. I’m not a huge fan of Wilde but the upside is definitely there. With his size+offensive combo I think can at least be a bottom pairing guy worst case scenario. His upside is similar to Risto in potential and playstyle. Booming shot and as said earlier, good offensively. Has a lot of tools and if he somewhat puts it together he can be a very good dman

Thomas is a dynamic offensively but is also responsible in his own zone. Size may seem to be a concern but he’s actually pretty strong on his skates, I don’t see him staying at C though. A really good skater and more of a playmaker than sniper although he can shoot the puck, good motor on him as well

McIsaac I’m not a fan of, he was once the 2nd best dman in the draft to a lot but his offensive game hasn’t progressed as expected. Creativity isn’t just there. I don’t know why but I’m just really not a fan although he’s sound in his own zone and plays physically. His playstyle isn’t really seen in the NHL anymore. I think he can carve out a career as a solid 4-6 Dman but I can’t see him becoming more than that unless he takes a few more steps offensively

I think the obvious question here is why do you see Tkachuk at 12 instead of the top 5 he usually sees himself in?

Admittedly, I thought his older brother was going to disappoint and thought he was overrated because of his name. At the time I only watched highlights though I didn’t get TOO into depth with prospects. But Brady I’m confident is overrated because he’s a Tkachuk. Oldest player in the draft and he isn’t dominant like you’d expect a potential top 5 draft pick to be, especially with having his size and age. He did impress me at the WJC’s but away from the WJC’s he isn’t impressive and isn’t as pesty and gritty as people think. Just was never really a fan. However, I think he can be a really good complimentary player who’s good for 50-55 ish points a year with a solid all around game, although it does obviously depend on who he’s playing with. Every time I watch him though he just doesn’t impress me, especially for a potential top 5 pick.

Nice to see Jack DeBoer on there, fun fact, I actually played against him 2-3 years ago in HS as goalie and saved a few shots from him. My coaches were raving about him

I wouldn’t draft any goalies in the 2nd round, I’ve said this before but I’d rather just pick Jordan Kooy later in the draft than pick one of the “top” goalies, this is a weak class for goalies

It’s very hard to judge goalies at this stage, they’re more of a shot in the dark than skaters are. Any of the group of 4-5 that have emerged as the best could prevail or bust hard.

I like Bouchard being high in the first 0 a fave of mine. Ryan Merkely in the tail end of the first round/beginning of second I can handle, though I think he's going to out-grow these "issues" people talk of. McBain at #48 is just too low - I have him in the second round, but not that low. He's a 6'4" centre going to Boston College - I see more upside there...

Thanks for sharing Lays, couple of questions;

Farabee right next to Wahlstrom is surprising to me, with them playing together you have a clear comparison, I would have Farabee lower and Wahlstrom higher, Wahlstrom produce at a much higher rate lately.

I don't think I ever saw Fonstad in the 1st round, curious to know your take on him, from what I saw/heard he is just an average/okay skater which worries me.

Also curious to know why is Lundestrom dropping in your list.

Finally, outside of his EP profile I don't know anything about O'Brien, it would be of interest if you have anything to share about him.

Fonstad is producing above PPG on a bad Raiders team, this kid has serious skills and it's shown. He's a skilled and smart offensive player, he lacks size and his skating is okay but I wouldn't consider it a con or a reason to be worried. Once Fonstad bulks up a bit and works on his skating (his top speed is fine) he can be potentially be really good. Last year his numbers weren't anything special but that's because he was getting bottom 6 minutes, I expect him to have a Morgan Frost type rise but I doubt he goes in the first round (projected 2nd round, and then a huge breakout season where everyone starts to take notice) he's a boom/bust guy though.

Ive never been high on Lundestrom. I really don't get how people have him top 15 but to each his own I guess. I don't see offensive upside but his defense is real good. He's a safe pick but I'd be really surprised if he was ever a top 6er. He's more of a great 3C imo.

O'Brien admittedly is the one I've seen the least of out of the top 62. I've caught 2 games(its very, very hard to find games of him) and most is based on what I've heard about him. In those two games though O'Brien really stood out to me. He has really good offensive upside/IQ with great tools. Really smart player with explosive skating and a nice shot. That's a pretty vague description but from what I've seen, I do like him if that helps.

I share the same view on Lundestrom, you aren’t alone. People view him as a safe 2nd line center or middle 6 center but I don’t really see it. He’s been alright in the SHL, but nothing special.

He's kinda like Lias Andersson lite imo

Really good list, love to see people actually putting in the time to evaluate prospects. Interested in why you have Khovanov over Denisenko and Bouchard over Dobson?

nice to see Alexeyev a bit higher on your list.
No slight to Alexeyev, I’m not confident about that ranking, that’s where the draft drops off for me
For vague tiers

After 1. There is a drop off
After 9. There is a huge drop off
After 15. There is a drop off
After 19. There is quite a big drop off
After 24. There is a drop off
From 25. to 45. All of them are very close
After 48. Another drop off
54. to 62. They’re also pretty close

It's a good effort, I disagree with a lot of selections but that's going to happen with any list.

I think there's a tier drop after 1. Then a tier drop after 3...to start things off.

I don't anticipate Bouchard will go top 5 in a draft, just not sold on his footspeed and projection. I think Dobson is someone who might project better and thus be reached for higher.

Denisenko is way too low on the list IMO, I would be surprised if he doesn't go 20's at the latest. Just had an incredible five nations tournament, lot of skill, speed, dynamic play with good edges. Reminded me of a Oshie/Gusev type.

Olofsson/Lundestrom is a interesting storyline. Probably the most interesting storyline for me for the draft. One is a bit older, plays in the SHL. One is a bit younger, might project better with size, plays in Allvesk. Olofsson is too inconsistent to make a strong call on, reminds me of Vesalainen of last year in terms of tools, to some degree.

Kotkaniemi is another guy I think might rise a lot come draft day.

I have a lot of thoughts on different guys and haven't gotten to some guys I'm particularly high on but thought I would contribute some brief thoughts to the thread.

Interesting list, you have Kravtsov higher than anyone else, what am i missing there? can you elaborate?
A lot of people have Kravtsov top 15. Paging @Pavel Buchnevich
Full package offensively, good speed, hands etc. questions about his IQ have arose but his IQ is fine.
Good size as well and has tremendous potential, I like him a lot more than Denisenko. Impressed me every time I’ve seen him

@ the bolded, I definitely do think Denisenko goes first round, that’s not where I’d personally rank him though, I’m just not a fan. Seriously doubt Bouchard goes top 5 as well but again these are my own rankings not a prediction of who goes where, I like Bouchard a lot more than Dobson though

I like Olofsson a lot more than Lundestrom (obviously) he has much better tools+offensive upside and his defensive game isn’t shabby as well. Needs to up his consistency but when he’s on, he’s very good. Great tools but I’d like to see him more involved in the play, I’ve noticed he sometimes slacks off.

Kotkaniemi is really underrated, for some reason though I see him actually going lower than expected even though the draft is lacking C’s. Have a feeling Kupari goes above him which would be a mistake
