First of all thank you for writing the article and linking it here. I feel its reasonable for you to link to content like that because you are such a longterm contributer and participant here (not like the hf writers who never show up other than to link their blogs)

Agreed there should be some credit for being a frequent contributor and posting links to blog entries. I don't think asking for blog posts to be edited, factual and readable is too much to ask.

The only frequent contributor who posted well-written, thoughtful and edited stuff was @ChaoticOrange. Not saying I agreed with everything CO linked to, but at least his stuff was worth the read.

I was at that game and on the effigy was a sign that said "we hang whimps, whiners and quitters"

Northlands staff made the guy pull it up right after they saw it and it spent the rest of the game still in open view

Your article says "burn players in effigy". Do you have any evidence for that? Why do you insist upon doubling-down?

The misinformation is bad enough. Being obstinate and defiant about it is worse. Yes, these are serious concerns.

theres your opinion, then there is decency, the fact that you just defended a kid being bullied tells me all I need to know about you as a person and how seriously I should take your opinion. you really should rethink some of your opinions if you think a kid being bullied about his dad's profession and competency at it are fair game and perhaps your are part of the problem that we are discussing here.

being in the public eye doesn't give us the right to pick apart their lives and start rumours, call them names and bully their kids. I don't know about you, but I don't know in what world that is acceptable, but then again, you defended a kid being bullied, so who knows. Maybe I just have a better sense of decency than most. Its game, nothing that happens on the ice is worth getting angry and attacking another person over.

My comments on bullying weren't even opinion-based. I never defended bullying. I hate bullying. My point was clearly that most kids are teased in school at some point, like it or not. Using Eakins kids getting teased as a narrative for his argument was just a low hanging fruit. His kids would have likely been teased even if Eakins was a doctor at a public clinic.

Or he's basing it off of conversations he's had with NHLers. JTS has a pretty long track record of discussion with NHL execs and players, I'm willing to back that up. He predicted the Slepyshev draft pick/actually leaving the KHL well before anyone in the media, for instance.

Pronger:
Chris Pronger's nasty allegation: "They burned my kid's crib."

Sorry. Not an effigy. His child's ****ing crib. How much better.

Speaking of children, Dallas Eakins' daughter bullied:
Dallas Eakins' Daughter Has Heartbreaking Encounter (VIDEO)

Enough evidence for you? I don't have a link for Schultz having a breakdown, but I damn well can believe it. The turnaround between his play here and in Pittsburgh is pretty clear evidence to me that he was having some serious mental difficulties here.
I read the Chris Pronger article where it says there is no proof his kids crib was burned. He himself references only rumours of this happening. You’d think he’d know for certain if something this outrageous happened. Pronger was known for having a very dry sense of humour. That’s probably why he was warned about being slanderous. I’m certain that in this hockey mad market if something like this really happened it would have been front page news for a very long time. I’m stunned anybody believes this ever happened.

^^ Russians are soccer mad all of Europe is, in Sweden Soccer is way bigger than hockey , I find it rather insulting JTS trying to make Canadians look unreasonable when it comes to sports when he lives in England who has a long history of fan violence, Why the Ugly Spectacle of Fan Violence Has Returned to Soccer
Big difference in how people treat a sport they’re only mildly interested in than one they are passionate about. You’d think somebody as worldly as JTS keeps telling us he is would easily know the difference.

Very true, and I am an Arsenal fan so the abuse that Wenger sees at pitches across England is beyond anything any hockey player or coach has had to endure in Canada.
It shocks me, that OP could write an article like this and said to live in England.
No kidding. I can’t get over how somebody living in England could write on article slamming Edmonton hockey fans unless he was only interested in slamming Edmonton and its hockey fans. That couldn’t be his goal here, could it?

Your article was filled with misinformation yet you want us to take your word that YOU witnessed Jimmy Carson hung in effigy at Northlands almost thirty years ago when nobody else did? That’s not how credibility works.

But, but, but he was trying to make some point about being mean is a bad thing and since he was trying to make a point about being good it's ok that he made stuff up mumble, mumble, mumble...

I heard Chris Pronger's love child was hunted down and the Old Boys Club drank his blood in an eyes wide shut style shindig. That's why we made the playoffs last year, but it came with a price.

You forgot Draisaitl sleeping with Pronger's sister and then burning a voodoo doll of Dallas Eakins.

It was sad because the Eakins voodoo doll was bullied.

Fake news is okay if it’s for the greater good as established by those who know better than the rest.

The op is a well known pot stirrer. His own tag line boasts of his love for 'alternative facts', and carries the out right lie that 'not a single Oiler fan said we won the (Hall) deal'.
Arguing over his badly written, shoddily researched blog is only giving him the attention he wants.

Thank you for saving me the time as this is precisely what my reply was going to be. With the exception that JTS worded it that "Jimmy Carson was hung"

hyperbole on a rope..

Have to admit chuckling a bit that the blog over there is recruiting. I've encountered easily 100 people here that would be better writers.

I think most fans still liked Eberle but the media had turned on him and started the marketing campaign to get the fans against him. It’s the same thing they’ve done over the years to numerous players. We have great fans in Edmonton, it’s our media thats full of POS. It’s like they can’t write a good story without slandering a player.

For what Eberle and Schultz were getting paid the entire city could boo me and throw garbage at me while I'm walking in WEM with my kids. This is the type of player that is coming out of Junior now, weak minded, entitled, everyone has to cater to me personalities.

Exactly

These guys are absolutely idolized as Gods. It's only when they fail in their effort, not in performance, have I ever seen this fanbase as a group turn on players. To me it is all justified. And yes there is a line. Jordan Eberle certainly was no where near it.
For this fella, or anyone for that matter, to believe that a professional athlete - who is so sheltered from everyday nuances - is affected by fans booing his performance, is absurd. The simple solution is to perform better. Or in Jordan's specific case, put in an effort.
As well for the author (or perhaps it was other posters) who referenced other players with similar situations, I'll agree. Carson, Shultz, et al were sent packing. Rightly so! Again for the same reason as Eberle. No effort. I remember every single one of those POSs. Loved them too when they were here and worked hard. But happy to see the go if and when they didn't. Entitled asshats. Remember Jason Arnott? He was a brash kid that only spoke his mind truthfully and got run out of town. That was for only being honest about floating through 1 game!!!

If you are that talented, have worked that hard on your body, conditioning, regime, routine, diet, education, commitment, etc by the time you are 17/18 years old, you are from Canada, you have a shot at a lifelong (to that point) career dream, and you don't know what it would be like playing in a hockey hotbed market? That would be rather foolish, ill prepared, or most likely - poor character. Which is what I suspect of all these players who have been shipped out.

I feel the same way I always used to feel when I heard musicians and rock stars talking about their fans or an album that didn't sell very good or something not quite right. They usually said something along the lines of - That's why I hate commercialism, or - We made this album more for ourselves and our fans not the public. What BS. Like you don't want to sell albums and merch and make money. Right. Same as these players then. Go to Europe then if it's so good.

Goodbye.
And grow up.

Oh, and I cannot remember the last time I've ever gotten a $40 ticket to an Oilers game. Honestly do they exist?

And - WhoTF is this 'shoop' guy?!! Dead on with your responses!
