He's not as flashy as others, but for as underwhelming Alex Killorn is in the regular season, he's exactly the opposite in the playoffs

The wings who were done at that point took the eventual cup winners to game 7 OT. The biggest factor was Toews forgetting to play hockey because Zetterberg was so far in his head.

The Hawks were the better team and won, but it wasnt because Toews won his match up that series. Zetterberg has always been a stud in the playoffs

I think Franzen should be on any clutch playoff team as well. He was a third liner until Holmstrom got hurt at the end of the 2008 season and never looked back from there. From 08-10, his high in goals was 34, but scored at a 50 goal pace in the playoffs. He never cracked 60 points in his career but scored at a 95 point pace in those playoffs which included 2 runs to the cup finals.
This is extremely embarrassing. I remember the good old days (before a salary cap exposed them as frauds) when the red wings would celebrate winning cups not taking actual historic teams to game 7 and actual multiple cup winners “into their head”. If anyone should get credit for that its the refs for allowing flagrant interference and mugging to go uncalled. Its pure spin to consider it losing his matchup when Toews destroyed him in possession that series and they ended on the same number of points, not to mention actually winning the series and the cup. Must have been those sick head games to go 30% corsi and blow a 3-1 lead.

Congrats, Chicago won the cup I've already said that. But Detroit did give Chicago their closest that series that year and yes, Toews was having trouble matching up with Zetterberg. Deny it all you want, Zetterberg is a great playoff player though, you dont remember Seabrook having to go try to get Toews under control in the box after his meltdown because of Zetterberg? Chicago is lucky they had other good leaders or Toews wouldnt have turned it around for the last 3 games or so.

As for the salary cap exposing them as frauds, the wings have a cup and a game 7 in the finals since the cap was implemented, plus a season where they likely would've been the favourites lost to the lockout.

Zetterbergs individual corsi was actually better than Toews in the series, he held Toews to one even strength point in 7 games and didnt have a meltdown to the point Datsyuk had to come into the box and calm him down. Call it pathetic if you want but Zetterberg had a good series against the best team in the league. He was past his prime against one of the best young centers in the league. Zetterberg has always been great in the playoffs

Youre just lying now.

Zetterbergs 5on5 corsi in the series - 32.4 34.5 28.0 23.8 33.3 57.1 33.3
Toews 5on5 corsi in the series - 64.5 73.1 79.2 59.1 68.2 44.8 53.8

Pathetic stuff. Maybe datsyuk should have talked to him and told him to stop getting destroyed and snowed under in possession all series. Good series lolololol. He cracked 35% corsi in one game out of 7. Lololololol.

Individual corsi, as in what they actually did themselves. If youre going to hinge an argument on advanced stats know what they are

Game 1 Zetterberg 6-2 icf, game 2 Z 5-4, game 3 Toews 8-7, game 4 Z 4-3, Game 5 Z 4-2, Game 6 Z 7-4, game 7 Z 7-2.

Thats a 62% icf for Zetterberg over Toews in the series. I've never once claimed Detroits team was better, but having better teammates obviouly helped Toews. With Zetterberg all over him Zetterberg himself generated 62% of the corsi. For people who watched that series that would seem to match the eye test. Chicago was a better team but Zetterberg was winning that 1 on 1 battle. Toews only out attempted him in game 3, the rest of the series it was Zetterberg.

Detroit was over matched in that series and somehow took it to game 7 OT. I think Toews should be thanking playing with guys like Keith, Seabrook, Kane, Hossa and even Bickell for those "snowed under" possession stats in the series. It definitely wasnt Toews out corsi-ing Zetterberg and it definitely wasnt his one even strength point in the series that did it for the Hawks that playoff
