Im not too sure that picking a high schooler from Minnesota will really be Phoenix's strategy in the first round every year , but who knows? :(

I think you'll see a Joe Finley go before a Pokulok. Finley brings a known physical game, while Pokulok is laid back. Does a team wanna roll dice on a future Chara(Finley) or Rathje(Pokulok)? But other than that pretty good list with some surprises and some safe choices, which is usually what happens. After getting the shaft and picking 19, Bergfors is definately a huge pick-up for the Rangers that late. Pavelec may be too low, he's gaining huge momentum with tremendous hype.

Good call on Smolenak, all it seems that is missing from him is strength which comes with time. Definately a candidate to break out and make 29 GM's kick themselves. Can skate, dangle, shoot, make dmen look silly on one on ones. Not a fan of Kohn but don't know what the real people in the biz think of him. Kindl is a damn mystery, he could go as high as top 15 or drop as low as 40-50 I think.

Gilbert Brule is overrated. I saw him play against Kelowna in the playoffs this year and he is quite a dirty player. He is decent offensively but not a star. I don't think he will make a major impact in the NHL. He will be a 3rd or 4th liner.

Anaheim will probably take Ryan over Pouliot because he's a power-forward winger, but I've seen many, many worse picks. Nice job overall, though.

I dont think the devils would take Zagrapan over Bourret, O'Marra, or Bourdon. . No offense to Marek, but he is not strong, brave, and does not play good d. He doesnt fit the devils very well. But any of the other 3 are either strong overall, strong, or solid picks. Zagrapan does not seem as "sure fire" as the other 3. I think that Pit would not pick skille. I think that they are a team to go after a flashy playmaker like Zags before a two-way player. Other than that, real good job. With this list, the only other things i might change is latendresse to New York before the pick Kindl. They seem to like big forwards.

He was injured during the games in Kelowna in the playoffs. Brule does have a chippy side, but he is cleaner than many players in the NHL. Brule will be a second liner in the NHL.

I like everyone the Isles have picked in these mocks. Pretty much, the Isles need prospects at every position except goalie, so any of those picks are excellent. Im hoping they draft in the teens..cause I really would love Bourret in an Isles jersey.

Really? I heard he was more of a skill guy, and a center to boot. Well, he'd be a good pick too, I guess, but I don't like him a whole heck of a lot. I don't like the fact that he couldn't make it to the OHL till this year. Reminds me of Andrew Ladd and Travis Zajac, who I also don't like.

Benoit Pouliot is not a power forward. He may have a PF height, but he's rail thin and doesn't dominate with pure strength like Ryan. He's a finesse C, LW who's silky smooth like LeCavalier. It's not that he couldn't make it to the O this year. There were two situations that held him back playing for Hawkesbury, but the talent and absolute want by Sudbury was there. Not being able to "make" the OHL is an overused and wrong assumption that people make.

Don't know what Travis you see, but Zajac's awesome...really nice pick by NJ.

I just don't like him. I'm not a fan of any BCHL/AJHL/SJHL, etc. players, even if they are just waiting to get into college. Just something about him I'm not a fan of at all.

I also don't like Kris Chuko. Maybe Sutter knows something I don't, but I think he's going to be nothing more than a decent 3rd liner at best.

i thought the worst pick that the Penguins could have is #2 overall because they finsihed last place last season. That's the way it always worked out in the past with the lottery.

Since there was no season in 2004-2005, this lottery is totally different than the standard lottery. Although it is weighted towards teams that did not make the playoffs for the three most-recent seasons, every team in the NHL has a shot at getting the coveted number one pick. While not likely (since it has the maximum three balls in the hopper), Pittsburgh could wind up picking dead last.

Yea I guess he's versatile. At the top prospects game he was taking draws so I listed him as C. I'm not sure how where he fits in tho. Do you want a Vinny type center or ___ type of winger. Honestly cant think of a nhl winger like him rite now

Detroit needs young D-men like Mikkelson, Lee, Jackson, or Kindl. They will not take Cogliano in the 1st round. I bet the Wings will go heavy on defence in 05'. :teach:
