Can you guys send me your top 50 picks for next season's draft if the NHL would hold one? Obviously if 50 is too many let's narrow down to top 30 if possible. I am at least hoping to run a mock draft talent wise not what each NHL team would need. Base it on your best of the best in 2005.

Kinda tough to do this when we don't have a clue what the draft order will be.

Ryan over Brule or Johnson.

I think I speak for all Penguins fans when I say...NO!

Kinda odd to guess that Washington would get the first pick again. I mean no one knows the way the order will be determined but the Penguins finished with the worst record last year so they should have a better chance than Washington.

Can Bourett skate?

If he can, with that weight and that height... wow, he must absolutely destroy some players.

He's the one who injured Bobby Ryan during the U18s on a controversial hit.

Fixed.

I like Bourret, but he is very short and will be a Tootooish player in the NHL if he continues to make the type of hits that he layed out on Ryan and Staal at the prospects game.

What's wrong with being an immensely more skilled and thicker tootoish player?

I don't think either Gauthier or Drazenovic will go on the first day of the draft.

Gauthier was impressing noone with his play in PA before being injured ... every account I've seen had him down around #5 on their depth chart and not playing well at all. Toss on that scouts haven't been able to see him play since xmas, and I don't see how he'll go highly. He probably won't even be the first d-man from his team selected - most rankings have Jeff May higher. I'd have about 10 defenders ahead of him from the WHL alone.

Drazenovic seems to be in the first two rounds on most lists and I have absolutely no idea why. He doesn't have pro size, he's weak as hell on the puck, he's an average skater, he has no grit to speak of, and doesn't have much of a shot. And his production isn't great either. There's just nothing there that looks to me like it will play well in pro ... prototype career minor pro player.

We're getting mixed reports. Gauthier was in PA's top 4 before the injury - I can assure you of that. I talked to the Maple Leaf's head Western scout at an online chat at a Canucks fan site and I asked him about Gauthier. He said he only saw PA (Gauthier and May) live once but he said he was intrigued at Gauthier's size, skating, and toughness. You and I both know that NHL scouts will look at Gauthier and go '''Hmmm, 6'4''....mean.....can skate......'' He has pro writen all over him.

As for Drazenovic, who knows. He has the size (height, at least) that if he adds muscle to his frame maybe he could be an NHLer. He's got a real nice pair of soft hands.

From what I can gather PA's top four, even when Gauthier was healthy, were the two overagers Fritshaw and Schlenker, Even Schaefer (4th round FLA pick) and Jeff May. Surfing around the WHL boards, the reports on him from PA fans weren't good at all - huge disappointment, lots of mistakes, no puck skills. I'm sure scouts will be intrigued at his size and mobility. Doesn't mean he'll go high if he can't translate it to actual game play.

Drazenovic does have a nice set of hands and good vision, but there are just so many problems there. To me he's a 4th-5th rounder. I don't see what he does that will allow him to put up points in pro. You're right his height isn't too bad, but he's so slightly built that size has to be considered an issue.

They should keep him at right wing from what I hear.

He won't play physical and has no head for playing defense. Everything good I hear is from him using his speed at forward.

I still think out of the Blades players eligible that Joe Barnes will be drafted higher than Rabbit. He's got the size to go with his ability that teams look for. Rabbit is a player who can be removed from a game early with physical play.

Thank you. Finally someone gives Merkley his recognition. The scorer within Merkley will arrive next year when Getzlaf is gone!

its unlikely Trukhno goes out of 30.

How would you know? Less than one month ago you started a thread in which you asked information on Trukhno because you said you knew nothing about him. And now suddenly, you're saying there is no way he won't be a top 30 pick? I don't get it.
