so is this Mets team legit or is too early to tell?

yes and yes

obviously they aren't going to keep up the current pace and win 140 games...but issue in recent years has been health. if they stay healthy there is no reason why they aren't fighting for a playoff spot. but every mets fan is just waiting for all their pitching arms to explode and be out

What in particular did you not like re managing?

The whole thing pinch hitting Bruce for Nido but leaving Noah to bat, then they intentionally walk Bruce and you just lost a pinch hitter plus your down to your last catcher and then Noah gets pulled after one batter anyway.

If you're pinch hitting for Nido you don't let Noah hit as well.

Yeah that was definitely a head scratching half inning.

Guess he's still learning the lineup side of management. He's got the pitching down.

You just leave Nido in and if they want to make sure he gets something to hit, you put Bruce up there in the on deck circle. Give him some support behind him.

If they think Nido could work the count and either come through or walk, you leave Noah up there and if he reaches on a walk, pinch hit with Bruce.

It was handled poorly, and Callaway probably won't make that mistake again at this point.

I also thought he pitched Gsellman back to back again, but realize now that my brain blocked out the L in between the two G-man appearances. The leaving Noah in to bat so he could face two batters flummoxed me.

Looks like the weather will clear out and both teams will get into action tonight.

Hopefully deGrom can put together a classic performance. I believe most of the late inning guys pitched yesterday. Lugo was the only guy not to go. Sewald shouldn't be used tonight either after going 3 innings only on Saturday. Robles has gone 2 straight and should be avoided.

Hopefully they can go something like this: deGrom (6-7) Lugo (1-2) Familia (1).

Would be nice to hammer Hellickson. The fact Cespedes has killed him and is sitting hurts a little. He could use a day though.

Sprinkle in Blevins as needed for a potential at bat vs Harper.

Go and take 2 of 3 from the Nats and keep that distance created so far.

We miss Scherzer and Strasburg in this series I believe so we need to take 2 of 3 for sure.

They have to win tonight to do it. They've killed Hellickson while he was in Philly. Hopefully we get the same results tonight. deGrom putting up his best start so far is needed, as we know the Nats won't be too happy about what happened this weekend and last weekend.

Gio always does well against the Mets. Wheeler is still Wheeler, and it was against the Marlins. Last game is a toss up. Matz was good last time, but he gets the Nats for the 2nd time in 3 starts. They all saw him last time. Same applies for Gio and Roark, but they've been guys that beat the Mets whenever they pitch.

Giants offered peanuts for Stanton btw:

Despite varying reports, this is in fact what the Giants offered the Miami Marlins for Stanton: left-handed pitcher Andrew Suarez, outfielder Denard Span and third baseman Jacob Gonzalez, league sources tell FanRag Sports.

In the deal, the Giants were believed to be willing to take on most, if not all of Stanton’s remaining contract (which is close to $283 million, per Spotrac).

Hicks gives much needed relief to our OF. He's a really good player stuck in the mix of Judge, Stanton, and Gardner. And don't forget Frazier whenever he gets back, though Hicks can play CF, a damn good CF at that. He just hasn't been able to stay healthy. He's great trade bait once Florial comes up.
