This is Mitch's last year in junior, he hasn't been drafted, and I believe is considered a free agent. Does anyone have any ideas of where he is headed now? The Canucks did invite him to training camp...but that didn't go anywhere. I could see the Canucks sign him for the Moose type of thing if they like him that much. Here are his stats:

--- Regular Season --- ---- Playoffs ----
Season Team Lge GP G A Pts PIM GP G A Pts PIM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2001-02 Medicine Hat Tigers WHL 1 0 0 0 0 -- -- -- -- --
2002-03 Vancouver Giants WHL 67 15 20 35 34 4 0 0 0 2
2003-04 Vancouver Giants WHL 72 31 28 59 64 11 4 3 7 8
2004-05 Vancouver Giants WHL 70 30 23 53 88 6 4 3 7 12
2005-06 Vancouver Giants WHL 71 31 36 67 44
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He has been a constant scorer for the G-men...I've seen tons of the kid play, he doesn't seem like a complete bust (i.e. I don't mean top 2 line player, a future in the NHL as a 4th liner isn't out of the question though). He has fairly good size(6'0, 206lbs) and speed, along with one hell of a shot.

So any thoughts on where his future lies in hockey, if any? IMO, he could become a solid 3rd liner AHLer.

I know he had a tryout with the Leafs a few years ago. I just don't think he has enough drive to make the NHL. Just my opinion.

Don't knock the guy because of 1 camp he had with the Canucks, i'm sure he'll be better at the next one.

He has ECHL skills.

Agreed, and WPHL (yes, I know it's called the CHL now) hands. Bartley's overall talent level is pretty mediocre, but he'll get a nice scholarship to a CIS school.

I understand where you guys are going with his work ethic which isn't exactly great but I live near Vancouver and have seen him play farly often. I think this guy should try to go up through the ECHL the same way Micheal Ryder did which is exactly the player I see in Bartly every time I see him. Not much of a skater or anything else but great release and great shot. Almost a Ryder clone IMO.

I've been impressed with the interviews I 've seen/heard of Bartley. I see him going to University, then European professional and maybe make a back door entrance into the NHL. Otherwise making a nice living in Europe for awhile. He can score goals which every team needs and if he'd had the minutes Brule had he may have had better stats.
